  1. @badnetmask My experience with #ZWave was that it NEED a mesh to function. Installing 1 or 2 devices to try them out won't give consistent performance. I ended up going with #Zigbee instead, but beware of cheap China-sourced equipment - my failure rates with #Sonoff and #Aqara motion sensors was quite high. #Matter is supposed to fix a lot of the platform compatibility issues...as soon as it's ready.

    For switches, my #Lutron #Caseta system (NOT Zigbee) has been 100% rock solid.
