The Google #Launcher/start screen it arrived with was ghastly.
#PlayStore is pretty much un-usable.
Effectively no search for apps.
Would not let Firefox install.
Didn't like scrolling down. 💩

Installed #Aptoide (EDIT: ❌️❌️❌️❌️) from their website.
Installed #Projectivity launcher from Aptoide. And Firefox. (And Kodi but that looks like a lot of work to get set up. What is a PVR anyway?)

And #NewPipe from GitHub. And VLC. And #SBSOnDemand.

Usable now.

@AwetTesfaiesus @dkl du kannst ja auch alternative launcher installieren. dann Sieht es halt wie Android aus.

Ich nutze seit über einem jahr @GrapheneOS auf einem refurbed Pixel 8a und habe nur wenige Apps über #Aptoide installiert. Der Rest alles via @fdroidorg. Mir fehlt nichts.

Just tried downloading #TotalCommander from aptoide.
The displayed version 9999.9999.999.999 gave a loop of advertising pop-ups.
From "apps" store.
Uploaded 3/31/2024

No longer confident wtf aptoide screens apps for.

I wouldn't use apps downloaded from aptoide on any device with my banking details on it.

(Other version are to be found behind the "Other versions" button.)

EDIT: Rechecked, date on that version has changed to 2025.
Confidence now zero.

I'm not a mobile user; I'm trying to install a.k.a. Vanilla #Android on QEMU. Has anyone tried the #Aptoide store? How good is it as an alternative to the Google Play Market, can I trust their app verification?

In total I have 3 games live in the #Aptoide store for iOS that in total rewarded 3K euro

Aptoide says to pay 2K for apps with in-app purchases and 1K for apps without

They tried pushing me to add in-app purchases via their system but I won’t

So I got the minimum for my apps to be listed in their bare store but since their don’t earn anything on it I guess another one is not done

It’s just weird..

While the site apkpure.com/.net has been down, I downloaded a needed Android app installation file from Aptoide. The apk was in fact to install their app store. Aptoide renames their own apk to whatever the app you were searching for is. Eg: outlook.apk. This sneaky approach makes me not trust them. Seems like an own goal to me.

Anyway apkpure.net is back online, although .com is still offline.

Es ist mal wieder Zeit fuer ein #Messenger Review! 😜 Heute gehts um #Sid ,einen Messenger mit Serverstandort und Firmensitz in 🇩🇪 Deutschland und sehr grossen Versprechen,was Datenschutz und 🔒 Sicherheit betrifft.Der erste Eindruck ist allerdings unschoen 😢 Die Webseite http://sid.co leitet nicht auf die SSL Version weiter,obwohl ein gueltiges SSL Zertifikat von DigiCert existiert,wenn man HTTPS manuell aufruft.Selbiges gilt fuer die Webseite der Betreiberfirma http://www.spherebox.com ,die im Footer sogar explizit unverschluesselt verlinkt wird 🤦 Ebenfalls unschoen ist,dass die Webseite #Google Fonts einzubinden versucht,wobei man lobend erwaehnen muss,dass auf alle Arten von anderen Drittanbietern verzichtet wird und auch ein Tracking findet nur ueber eine selbst gehostete #Piwik / #Matomo Instanz statt 👍 Ein Check der IP Adresse zeigt,dass Sid bei 1&1 Ionos gehostet ist,also keiner bekannten Datenkrake 👍 Alle Nachrichten werden Ende zu Ende verschluesselt und nur lokal auf den Geraeten,nicht auf den Servern gespeichert 👍 Open Source ist das Programm jedoch leider nicht,sodass man sich hier auf die Versprechen des Herstellers verlassen muss und es nicht nachpruefen kann 👎 Nach dem Download kann ich aber nur noch von positiven Erfahrungen berichten 😃 Der Client ist fuer alle wichtigen Systeme vorhanden,auch an 🐧 #Linux wurde gedacht 👍 Offiziell zwar nur fuer #Ubuntu ,aber die executable Datei in dem Archiv laesst sich auch auf #Arch ausfuehren.Auch die Handy App funktioniert auf meinem #Blackberry Passport problemlos und meckert auch nicht ueber fehlende Google Spyware.Heruntergeladen werden kann sich leider nicht aus dem #Fdroid ,da es wie gesagt closed source ist,aber aus dem #Aptoide.Die beiden Geraete miteinander zu verbinden koennte intuitiver ueberhaupt nicht geloest sein 👍 Auf dem neuen Geraet den Benutzername eingeben,auf dem anderen die Anfrage bestaetigen,das ist alles.Keine Passwoerter,keine Bestaetigungsmails und ein Bruteforce scheint mir auch unmoeglich,weil es ja von einem verifizierten Geraet bestaetigt werden muss 👍 Sid wirkt modern und aufgeraeumt,fuer den Desktop ist es auch ein natives Programm und kein #Electron 🎉 Auch cool: Man kann Nachrichten zwischen verschiedenen eigenen Geraeten hin und her schicken.Also wenn man eine interessante Webseite am Handy findet und am PC genauer anschauen moechte,schickt man sie einfach per Sid an den PC 😎 Kontakte koennen einfach per Sid Adresse eingeladen werden.Die erinnern mich ein bisschen an #Discord Benutzernamen,also beinhalten einen frei waehlbaren Namen und eine Zufallsnummer aus 5 Stellen.Nachrichten werden problemlos auch ueber mehrere Geraete synchronisiert 👍 Es gibt im Profil die Moeglichkeit,einen Verschluesselungsfingerabdruck zu sehen,den man mit seinem Gespraechspartner vergleichen kann 👍 Auf mich macht die App einen sehr guten Eindruck,auch wenn die Webseite unbedingt optimiert werden muesste.Natuerlich sind dezentrale Messenger wie #Matrix oder #Jabber weiterhin zu bevorzugen,aber wer eine Loesung sucht,mit der auch Leute ohne technisches Verstaendnis klar kommen,der wird mit Sid vermutlich zufrieden sein 👍 Es folgen noch Screenshots vom PC und Handy,die ich beide mit dem gleichen Account nutze.Als Testkontakt nutze ich einen zweiten Account,der auf meinem Tablet laeuft.
