This episode of the New Yorker Poetry podcast, where April Bernard reads John Ashbery's "A Worldly Country," has an extended conversation on "the pleasure of difficulty" (in Bernard's words), and I think it's just great.

It strikes me as just a really good guide to approaching "difficult" art in general, or why one might want to bother. I'm revisiting it for a blog post about difficult poetry and I'm liking it even more today than I did when I listened back in February.
