Discovered today reminders-menubar from Rafael Damasceno, a cool #AppleReminders integration tool for macOS. You can have it load automatically at startup and setup a keyboard shortcut. Creating a new Reminder becomes: press the shortcut, type the Reminder name, press enter, done. Add “today” at the end if you want the date set automatically. That’s relevant for Task Compass in the daily cycle mode.

Version 1.0.2 of Task Compass is submitted for review, yay! There are multiple UI improvements and just as importantly, new screenshots.
The first two spots are app preview videos, I didn’t see much of those in the App Store. I wonder why, because I feel they are a great way to showcase apps.

I pushed a new version of #TaskCompass to #TestFlight.
What's new:
1. UI polish, mostly around toolbars
2. Improved cross-device sync
3. Temporarily removed the automated prompt for Resistant Reminders scheduling
4. Left-right swipe for the top priority viewGet the beta at https://task-compass.app

In a time when a lot of Apple software quality and design is eroding, I feel like the #AppleReminders team should get some applause for continuing to iterate and crank our truly useful new features on a regular basis. Didn't know alarms were coming but happy to have them.
-
@ethanschoonover For sure. And what's annoying is there's no built in export.
Speaking of... I just recently made an app to back up #AppleReminders, because they have the same problem: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/reminders2json/id6746057052?mt=12. And Reminders are notorious for losing data when you have many of them.

55 seconds to learn the quick, easy, right (AND TOTALLY UNINTUITIVE, APPLE) way to link #AppleNotes to #AppleReminders

I don’t love this recent design change to #AppleReminders where every section in a list has a new, empty item to denote creating a new task in that section, even if you aren’t editing the list (which I’m not here).
This feels like a massive waste of space and makes lists more tedious to read and use.
Super dislike, #Apple

Tip for #AppleReminders : You can save any list as a template for reuse & then share the template (File > View Templates > hover…) Easy to make sure a hiking group is on the same page with my Day Hike checklist. https://icloud.com/reminders/template/B09C02D9-5025-44C2-9383-B865AFE91AFD#Day_Hike_List

🛒 Years and years ago my wife and I used to use an excellent free checklist program called #Wunderlist as a shared shopping list; instant syncing meant we could mutually check off items as we shopped. The company was acquired by Microsoft and the tech was incorporated into MS Todo. I never liked it. Syncing was flaky at best. Tried #Zenkit Todo and that worked, but as an experiment recently we tried the built in #AppleReminders app. Geez. It's good. (1/2)

Little-known iOS apps
This list dives into apps almost no-one talks about, serve a specific purpose, allow your device to do a little more than it was designed to, and are just plain cool.

Apple Reminders is more competent that Siri when it comes to understanding intent.
I dropped “broc in bag” into my groceries list and it automatically slotted it into the Produce section.
Meanwhile half the time when I ask Siri to add something to my groceries list it tells me that “I can’t find a grocery list”. #apple #applereminders

TickTick has done. Everything was moved over between Apple Reminders and Obsidian.

Although this is subjective, I think Apple Reminders has a better UI than Todoist.

Did you know that #AppleReminders is sort of a secret power tool for projects and todos?
It even has a kanban view.
And clicking any one of those icons on the reminders shown? Opens the project note in #AppleNotes. Easy. Simple built in tools.
Apple Reminders > View Menu > as Columns (you can make new columns which show up as sections in list view)

I prefer how Apple Reminders displays tasks like reading a book in Apple Books
over Todoist. -

@CodeMacLife Love this. I link my #AppleNotes to #AppleReminders too. It makes for such a seamless and fast workflow.

I have been using Apple Reminders to organise / plan out my blog posts.
Each title links to my blog post in Apple Notes where I will add things to each note when I have an idea or article to link. Apple's integrations make it all easier to process.
Once I am ready to finalise the post, I will drop it into Ulysses for proofreading and publish to micro.blog and Medium.
The blog's link will be added to Apple Notes with the Reminder going to the Published column.

I accidentally double-clicked the Today button in Apple Reminders on #macOS.
It creates a floating pop-up for the desktop. I think this is helpful for accessibility and convenience.

@kopio Neither because neither are task managers. Both are fine for laying out project steps (I prefer Obsidian personally), but for task management, a dedicated task app like #AppleReminders, #Todoisf, or #MicrosoftToDo will work much better.

Some of my favorite new features in #iOS17 are in the #AppleReminders app. The addition of sections and “column view” (aka Kanban board) make apple reminders a powerful app for managing projects. #ios17beta #Apple #iphone #productivity

Mój system produktywności opiera się na 3 aplikacjach:
#AppleCalendar - zaplanowane wydarzenia, eksportowane z innych kalendarzy;
#AppleReminders - zadania do zrobienia, lista zakupów, śledzenie rzeczy do obejrzenia itp.;
#AppleNotes - rzeczy potrzebne stale, dokumenty, notatki, zakładki, cytaty, linki itp.Przez lata używałem różnych programów: #Evernote #Notion #ObsidianMD #Logseq #TickTick #Todoist i wielu innych.
Odkąd korzystam z urządzeń Apple, korzystam też z domyślnych aplikacji.
