Wczoraj informowaliśmy, że Apple zaktualizowało kartę sprzedażową nowego iPada Air w amerykańskim Apple Online Store, zmieniając ilość rdzeni GPU w procesorach Apple M2 montowanych w najnowszych iPadach Air. Z 10 na 9. Teraz firma tłumaczy błąd.

Rzecznik Apple potwierdził tę zmianę serwisowi 9to5Mac, mówiąc jednocześnie, że wszystkie twierdzenia dotyczące wydajności pozostają dokładne i opierają się na 9-rdzeniowym GPU.

Aktualizujemy stronę Apple.com, aby poprawić liczbę rdzeni GPU dostępnych w iPadach Air z procesorami Apple M2. Wszystkie poprzednie twierdzenia dotyczące wydajności iPada Air M2 są dokładne i oparte na 9-rdzeniowym procesorze graficznym.

Wygląda więc na to, że firma wprowadziła pierwotnie po prostu błędne dane do Apple Online Store, co zdarzyło się jej chyba pierwszy raz w historii. Ja przynajmniej nie pamiętam podobnej sytuacji z przeszłości.

Just watched the Apple event for the new iPads.

The "regular" iPad is completely meaningless at this point. It's iPad Mini if you want a small one with a phone hardware stack, or iPad Air vs iPad Pro. And that boils down to wanting something adequate vs wanting the latest and greatest.

I love my iPad Air with M1. It's cool to see it upgraded, but M2 is not enough of an upgrade to matter. I'll likely wait until a generation of iPad Air with M4. Maybe even later. I don't really fully exploit what I have as it is.

I will, definitely, be looking out for other hardware from Apple later this year, though. I'm very likely upgrading to the iPhone 16 (probably Pro), having my iPhone 12 mini's battery refreshed, and handing that one down.

I'm also hoping we get a Mac Mini with M4 series chips, which I'd love to get a M4 Pro Mac Mini. That one might be wishful thinking, though. Looking at other lineup changes in recent years, I expect this to go M3 and M3 Pro, no Max nor Ultra, with M4 lineup being reserved for Mac Studio and/or Mac Pro.

We'll see, I guess!
