  1. 42 years ago today (1984), Apple released the Apple IIc.

It was their first “portable” computer — sort of. No built-in display or battery, but compact, lightweight, and ready to go with a handle. Basically the MacBook Air of its floppy-disk era.

  6. I have successfully fixed my #AppleIIc 's IWM - a few weeks ago, I toasted it, probably by hot-(un)plugging something by mistake. It then considered every floppy in both drives to be read-only, which was Not Good. Today I received a for-parts donor Mac SE, which has the same chip, and proceeded with the surgery. But wait, there's more.

  7. It’s a very yellowed untested Unidisk 3.5” drive for my #appleiic #appleii #apple.

  8. The Apple IIc to Imagewriter II cable seems to be almost as rare as hen's teeth. The ones that do come up on Ebay fetch stupid amounts of money for something that is relatively simple to make.

That said, I found these guys still making them commercially for a very decent price:

  9. My only experience so far with Apple II computers was with emulators. I could publish my text adventure games that were successfully tested on real hardware, but I never got an Apple II. My favorite model would be an Apple IIc, as I like a lot the sleek form factor and the integrated disk drive. Now that I have the manuals, I just have to find the computer 🤪 #retrocomputing #apple #appleIIc

  10. Question for you guys - what #appleiic memory expansion is currently available? I know a2heaven sells one, but it's out of stock. #appleii

  11. I am fixing up my workshop in the garage and needed a way to hook up my Apple IIc to my network to exchange files so I figured setting up a Ubuntu VM running lrsz and using a WiFi modem to exchange files via Proterm would work. #apple #appleii #appleiic

  13. This is a Tangy Pack for the Apple IIc line. It hooks onto the back of the computer, outputs VGA or HDMI and has buttons for scan lines, borders, and monochrome. Impressive as hell #appleii #apple #appleiic

  14. Just read about this pretty awesome project, View IIc, a wireless Remote Desktop solution for the Apple //c. The hardware uses an ESP32 and plugs into the //c's RGB port, sending the 14MHz video bitstream to a Windows PC.

This is a work-in-progress by Mike Neil (who calls its current status alpha), and I'm excited to see how this evolves.
