  1. So, next week the apple blossoms should be blooming in my favorite orchard (atop a hill in the next town over). I'll be able to gauge things by looking at the neighborhood trees. Taking in the blossoms is one of my traditions. Back when I was a kid, we had both apple and pear trees in our yard, and lying in the grass atop a blossom carpet always grounded me (and still does). (Pic is from last year.)

  6. Apple blossom is one of spring’s sweetest sights, but it’s also vital for fruit later! Top tip: Plant pollinator-friendly flowers nearby to attract bees and boost your apple harvest. More bees = more apples! #SpringGarden #AppleBlossom #GardeningTips

  9. The old Esopus Spitzenburg tree. I think I transplanted it here in 2012, it was probably 3 years old from seedling if it wasn't just a root sucker if the other tree is grafted on a spitz root stock because it doesn't grow very fast either. So probably 15 years old. I haven't pruned it much if ever except to get wood for the grafts I did. It might be 10 feet tall now with a 4 inch trunk maybe.
