  5. I *think* I fixed another issue with the #Delta #Apple2e clone. Details here:
    codeberg.org/hkzlab/NE_Delta_S

It's been running Total Replay carousel for hours now (around 5) without crashing, which was doing before, while in the demo mode of some games.

    Hoping nothing else broke.

  10. Excuse the mess! :D

    I'm beta testing a #burgerdisk by @colin_mcmillen on my Delta #apple2e clone.
It's wired to a SmartDisk][ card, and so far it's been working great. I could even daisychain it to a #FloppyEmu!

  15. Before going to prepare dinner for my cats, I want to show you two little side projects I worked on these days.

On video you'll see the splash screen of "Silk Dust", an #interactivefiction game by @davbucci which I helped optimize for #apple2e . Here it's running on my Delta clone, out of an #A2DVI with a custom firmware that can output composite artifacting simulation for hires graphics (and not only D*GR).

The splash screen is showing while the game loads the whole text resources in the aux bank of the computer.

You should hopefully be able to play this version soon!

  20. Thanks to the amazing help by @hkz, I could add the Apple 2 enhanced version of "I passi della regina", the Italian version of The Queen's Footsteps: davbucci.chez-alice.fr/index.p This version is interesting because it exploits the 80 column mode and the additional memory, so the game does not need to be split in three parts. #retrocomputing #Apple2e #Apple2 #TextAdventure #Italian

  25. Finally labeled every keycap in the Delta Redux #mechanical #keyboard !

I also took the occasion to release the repository for everyone: codeberg.org/hkzlab/DELTA_Redu

As you can see, this was sponsored by #PCBWay, all of it. Without them, I'd be months behind on this project.

For those that do not follow ramblings, the Delta (codeberg.org/hkzlab/NE_Delta_S) is an italian #apple2e clone, whose PCB I have redrawn and schematics reconstructed.

This is a keyboard for it! Thanks to @tubetime , as I based my work off his Datanetics replica.

If you like what I do, consider supporting me on ko-fi, it really helps me when I need to buy components.

  26. So, what to do with it? I guess the power supply needs some repair. #apple2e

  27. Ahhh, finally completed #PrinceOfPersia on the Delta #Apple2e clone.
It was ages since I completed this game (and I originally played the DOS version).
No idea if I got much worse at it, or it the #apple2 version is harder, but I had a much harder time with it than I remember.

This also gave quite an exercise to my #homebrew keyboard, which held up perfectly.

  28. @mcourcel
Oh hell yeah! Thanks a bunch!

I still play HHGTTG and Wishbringer on the #apple2e. Still don't have the manuals.

  29. @jamesog i cut my language teeth on #BASIC and #Pascal on my #Apple2e (and a bunch of #PET and #TRS80) back in the day. By college (1988) I was using #C, #LISP, et al on a variety of systems. I used #TurboPascal and #TurboC on a few college projects. Oh and #shell scripting. Lots of shell scripting. Ironically, I never touched #COBOL until I began work after college. Hehe #RetroComputing

  30. Love this! I first did recursion in #Apple #Pascal on my #Apple2e way back when. By the time I was in college and doing it in #Scheme (#LISP) it was easy! Recursion in #bash is fun too, and quite natural.

  31. @moorejh Makes me wish I stil had the old #Apple2e! Sigh I love having windows to multi-task and for reference. But I truly miss the text mode days of single tasking, where you simply couldn’t get to point of not being able to find something three of four stacked layers. It appeals to my #ADHD brain too. #RetroConputing #ActuallyAutistic

  32. An #Apple2e emulator running on a #M5Core2 #M5Stack
And Here I am playing #Zork again.
Not my project, found this on github.

It's a bit slow, but it does work. #amazing

  33. @timlocke Wow, In high school I took the electronics vocational tech class. Our computers were Apple IIe, our robot was a Heathkit Hero. I can't remember if it was interfaced with the Apple or not, I think if I remember correctly, it was programmed in hex via the keypad. I owned a #C64 & #TI994a but I really didn't get into #robots until much later in life. I need to add some sensors or something to this one, that is part of why I like it - I can change it as needed. #HeathkitHero #Apple2e

  34. Treated myself. My last Apple computer (IIe)
    And my new Apple computer. #apple #apple2e #appleiie #macbookpro

  35. I'm privileged enough to have a 2019 Macbook Pro. It's great.

So why do I lust after having an #Apple2e again, like my Dad had when I was a kid? I wrote a rudimentary word processor on that cheerful slab. It was terrible but it was mine.

Why do I keep drifting back to my #AtariSTFM which was a great working computer AND you could play #ImpossilbeMission3 on it.

Why do I feel computers are getting worse the older I get when that is simply untrue?

  36. @NanoRaptor
That game was killer hard at 7 years old,on the Apple //e. It's still killer hard at almost 40, but it used to be, too!

  37. @48kRAM

They sell a universal power supply at the link below for all the #apple2 systems but I don't know if the #apple2gs requires more power than the #apple2e power supply can supply.

  38. @vampiress @polpo

    My Dad got an #Apple2e for work when I was a kid so I learned a bit on there. Then I guess I'd be AtariST/TOS to DOS -> Win 3.11 -> Win95 -> Mac/Sytem 7 -> OS8 ->->-> Monterey.

Oh, and a bit of CP/M and #BBCBasic too! 🙂
