Apple lanza verificación de edad global

En respuesta a una creciente red de leyes de seguridad infantil en Europa, Estados Unidos y Asia, Apple ha comenzado el despliegue global de un nuevo conjunto de herramientas de verificación de edad. Esta actualización, reportada a los desarrolladores directamente por la empresa en un comunicado, marca un cambio fundamental en la experiencia de usuario: a partir de ahora, Apple podrá solicitar una prueba de edad legal para acceder a ciertas aplicaciones, servicios de suscripción y contenido web, integrando por primera vez los documentos de identidad digitales de la Apple Wallet como estándar de validación.

¿Cómo funciona el nuevo sistema de Apple?

La compañía ha diseñado un proceso que intenta equilibrar la seguridad con su bandera de la privacidad:

• Integración con Apple Wallet: En los países donde Apple ya admite IDs digitales (licencias de conducir o pasaportes), los usuarios podrán verificar su edad simplemente escaneando su cara con FaceID. El sistema solo confirmará a la app si el usuario es «mayor de 18 años» sin compartir el resto de los datos del documento.
• Escaneo de Documentos por IA: Para las regiones sin soporte de Wallet, Apple utilizará una nueva función de escaneo de documentos en tiempo real potenciada por IA que verifica la autenticidad del ID y la fecha de nacimiento en segundos.
• Verificación por Análisis Facial: En algunos mercados, Apple está probando una tecnología de «estimación de edad» basada en la cámara frontal que analiza rasgos faciales para confirmar que el usuario no es un menor, eliminando la necesidad de subir documentos para contenidos de bajo riesgo.

Privacidad: El gran desafío

Apple insiste en que no almacenará los documentos en sus servidores. La verificación se realiza de forma local en el dispositivo o mediante un token cifrado enviado a terceros verificadores certificados. «Nuestro objetivo es cumplir con la ley sin crear una base de datos de identidades de nuestros usuarios», declaró un portavoz de la compañía.

Nowe karty pokładowe w Apple Wallet to już nie tylko USA. Lufthansa wkrótce dołączy do listy

Pamiętacie nowości w Apple Wallet, które przyniósł system iOS 26? Interaktywne bilety lotnicze z podglądem mapy terminala i śledzeniem bagażu w końcu wychodzą poza rynek amerykański. To świetna wiadomość dla Polaków, bo na liście oczekujących jest gigant operujący również na naszym niebie.

Do tej pory z pełni możliwości nowych kart pokładowych (tzw. Rich Boarding Passes) cieszyli się głównie pasażerowie United i Delta. Ostatnio, jak informują amerykańskie media, do tego grona dołączyły właśnie linie Southwest Airlines.

Co potrafi taki bilet?

Zwykła karta w Wallet to po prostu kod QR i numer miejsca, to mamy od dawna. Nowy standard w iOS 26 zmienia bilet w centrum dowodzenia podróżą z następującymi funkcjami:

• Live Activities: status lotu na żywo na ekranie blokady (bez dodatkowych aplikacji).
• Mapy lotnisk: wbudowany podgląd terminala, który pomaga trafić do bramki.
• Śledzenie bagażu: integracja z systemem Find My (dla walizek z AirTag) lub systemem linii lotniczej bezpośrednio w widoku biletu.

Nadchodzi Lufthansa

Dla nas najważniejsza jest jednak lista przewoźników, którzy zadeklarowali wdrożenie tego standardu „wkrótce”. Znajduje się na niej Lufthansa Group. Oznacza to, że lada moment podróżując z Warszawy, Krakowa czy Gdańska (przez Frankfurt lub Monachium), skorzystamy z tych samych wygód, co pasażerowie w USA.

Na liście oczekujących są też m.in. Air Canada, Qantas i Virgin Australia. O PLL LOT na razie cisza, ale skoro standard przyjmuje się w Europie, to być może i nasz narodowy przewoźnik wkrótce zaktualizuje swoje systemy.

Śledzenie paczek w iOS 26 działa… kiepsko. Nie ma za czym płakać, InPost robi to lepiej

Wraz z iOS 26 Apple obiecało rewolucję w aplikacji Wallet. Dzięki modelom Apple Intelligence system miał automatycznie wyłapywać zamówienia z e-maili użytkowników i informować ich o statusie przesyłki. Tyle, że raz: nie działa to w Polsce, dwa: w USA działa kiepsko. Pierwsze testy w Stanach pokazują, że wyszła z tego technologiczna proteza, a my mamy własne, znacznie lepiej działające rozwiązania na naszym rynku.

Michael Burkhardt z 9to5Mac, który testował tę funkcję przez ostatnie miesiące (przypomnę: w Polsce nie da się jej przetestować), nie zostawia na niej suchej nitki. Jego werdykt jest brutalny: to „tępy plaster na ranę”, który nigdy nie powinien zostać wdrożony w takiej formie.

E-mail to nie GPS

Głównym problemem jest architektura tego rozwiązania. Zamiast wyciągać numer przesyłki i śledzić go w czasie rzeczywistym przez API przewoźnika, Apple Intelligence ogranicza się do… czytania Twojej poczty.

Jeśli sklep wyśle tylko jednego maila na początku („wysłano”) i jednego na końcu („doręczono”), w Apple Wallet amerykańscy użytkownicy zobaczą dokładnie tyle samo. Zero informacji o tym, gdzie paczka jest pomiędzy.

System opiera się na odświeżaniu poczty w tle, co często skutkuje serią spóźnionych powiadomień wpadających jedno po drugim. Ponadto podobno AI potrafi się pogubić – myli status „gotowe do odbioru w sklepie” z „wysłano”, wprowadzając tylko zamieszanie.

Polska górą

Z perspektywy polskiego użytkownika wygląda to wręcz groteskowo. Żyjemy w kraju, gdzie np. aplikacja InPostu powiadamia nas o nadejściu paczki, zanim kurier zdąży wrzucić bieg, a śledzenie w czasie rzeczywistym jest standardem, a nie luksusem.

Apple, prawdopodobnie bojąc się oskarżeń o kopiowanie rozwiązań firm trzecich, wybrało drogę bezpieczną, ale ułomną. Efekt? Funkcja w iOS 26 jest po prostu irytująca. Jeśli więc martwiliście się, że jakaś funkcja Apple Intelligence ominie Polskę – w tym przypadku naprawdę nie mamy czego żałować.

Some states are not fully on board with the tech yet including major destinations like Florida, or Hawaii which accepts Apple but not Google devices, so travelers are warned to still bring physical ID as a backup... And if you don't , expect to be billed $18 by TSA for an impromptu #biometric scan.

Since debuting in August, travelers have been verifying #ID with a facial video scan; using either #NFC or QR codes at #TSA checkpoints by holding up an unlocked cellular phone —here's links to more info, which states are actually on board, or have their own in req'd apps, and the basics on how it works.
