Nowy raport The Information ujawnia kulisy niewykorzystanych szans Apple. Eddy Cue, wiceprezes ds. usług, wielokrotnie namawiał firmę do przejęcia Tesli i Netflixa, ale Tim Cook odrzucił te pomysły.
Według najnowszych informacji Cue od lat forsuje duże przejęcia, m.in. Tesli i Netflixa, by wypełniać luki w ofercie Apple. Cook zablokował jednak oba pomysły – mimo że rozmowy z Teslą były prowadzone podczas kryzysu związanego z Modelem 3. Elon Musk twierdził nawet, że Cook nie chciał spotkania w tej sprawie.
Apple ostatecznie porzuciło projekt Apple Car, co podsyca spekulacje, „co by było, gdyby” firma przejęła Teslę.

Netflix od lat przewija się w analizach jako potencjalny cel dla Apple, ale brak wiarygodnych informacji o rozmowach. Cue odniósł sukces przy przejęciu Beats za 3 mld USD w 2014 r. oraz był zwolennikiem zakupu Shazam (2018, 400 mln USD).
Obecnie jest największym orędownikiem zakupu firmy z sektora AI – w grze są m.in. Perplexity i Mistral.

Surprised to see two #Apple centric components: 1) #Porsche showed off a sweet #AppleVisionPro app that looks like a driving simulator and 2) Tim Cook showed up in the live stream (although I bet it was pre-recorded) to congratulate the Porsche team and comment on AVP use.
