App Idea:
A lot of apps don't have compatible backups despite saving the same information. A good example is weight tracking apps. It's just a single number, but you can't export your data from one app and use it with another because of formatting.
Wouldn't it be nice to have an app that makes backups of similar data portable?

If anyone is looking for an App idea for one for you: using your camera you scan your car trunk/boot and it works out whether the ikea thing you want will fit...
Just feels like something that would have come in useful earlier

Cool #AppIdea, a #YouTube frontend (like NewPipe, FreeTube, etc) that searches for the video in torrent network, and if it ain't there, it creates the torrent from the downloaded YouTube content and starts sharing automatically.
Video edits could translate into multiple #torrent versions. Also, maybe torrents could separate audio and video tracks so downloads could be smaller.
Add #I2P compatibility? Coolest shit ever.

App that has a map of the grocery store you are about to go into and it will show you where to go. Using the map, you can easily find your grocery list items without distractions and guessing games.
Great idea to help people with memory issues, hard time finding items with changing isles, anxiety about shopping in a new store, and could also include when the shops have the most shoppers for those who'd like to avoid crowds.

App idea: I don’t know if this already, but a self-hosted, fediverse-enabled, dating profile. You create your profile first. Your profile is shared with fediverse servers, then it returns you're matches. The results would be Fediverse-public as opposed to generally public (e.g. found by Google, or generally typing in url)

Something that you scans your various social media profiles, works out your wants/likes and then recommends lists/#tags for the fediverse to get your a usual search.

New app idea. “Help Me Pack”. Tell it where you’re going, for how long, and for what occasion. It returns clothing, gadget, and other recommendations based on the location, weather and style. Take a photo of your suitcases and it can recommend HOW to pack efficiently.

the `inbuffer` #widget
* you have some chat input self-sending with enter key pressed
* you wish to send multiple messages, like paragraphs, one after another at once
* you get inbuffer input method, which has editor's text area, with language tools
* on your command, it will send all prepared paragraphs, each as its own message
* there is configuration, and wysiwyg tools, allowing custom time spread, or preparing beautifully posts with media, all what target uses -
A program that turns a Bear note into a webpage styled with Water.css. Call it Water Bear and its logo is a tardigrade. #AppIdea

A password manager with all the security and nice-to-haves of something like Bitwarden (e.g. extra fields, map many urls to one login, mobile app with autofill, check for password breaches, etc)
But the passwords themselves are never actually stored, instead deterministically generated, like lesspass.com -
Every minute of waiting in line must be multiplied by the number of people in line. So ~5 min multiplied by the 8 people involved is 40 man-minutes wasted on an incorrectly entered promo (or it was correctly entered but the sign was left up too long).
Psychologists would say #diffusionOfResponsibility happened here. After the 1st buzz, all staff in the store assumed someone else would tend to the cashier’s need. Why isn’t there a network app where a worker taps a button to say “I’ll get this” which is then signaled to other staff members?
The guy should have come *running* to show customers in line that their time is being respected. Then he should have sprinted to check the promo. If he’s not sweating when he returns, he should have a small water bottle to spray his face before running back to at least give customers the appearance to respect their time.
Maybe customers need an app specifically for tracking store line hold ups. The app would have a timer built-in. While you’re waiting (since you have nothing else to do anyway) you ID the store, enter how long the wait is, how many people in line, etc. Then this goes to a shared DB which collects stats on the best & worst shops. Make a #hallOfShame / #hallOfFame game of it; a spectacle.
What’s the hashtag for tagging an #appIdea? Is it #appIdeas.. or what else? #askFedi

#appIdea There needs to be a mac app in the taskbar that tells you when a sound happens and where it was from.
Can't. Find. The. Alert.

Actually “wacky chat rooms” would be a fun little #appidea where each chat room had a different filter in the input.
Easy ones would be like pig latin ir a language filter. Weird ones would be like there’s a 25% chance that a word is replaced with a synonym or antonym.
You could make a #game of it. Each person gets a different filter and you try and figure out who has which one.
