One of the ideas floating around to improve the quality of the App Store would maybe be to require a “business entity” to allow for more than 5 apps (or something).
Nothing against pet projects or so, but running a business without actually registering one also doesn’t seem right.
I’m sure the lynch mob from last time will show up again, the ones who already complained it’s ridiculous to give someone the real name of a developer that sold you something.

Skype is still sitting on my phone. It stopped working when Microsoft shut it down last May (2025 btw), and I am still not deleting it.
ICQ did not survive the last phone. Moving to a new iPhone pulls everything back down from the App Store, and ICQ has not been in the store since 2024, so it just quietly never came back. No warning and nothing to confirm. On the old phone it was there, on the new one it was gone.
So a dead app lives exactly as long as the phone it sits on.
Who else is keeping one of these around?

And no shade thrown to devs - I do open source work myself, and it's really hard, time consuming, often unrewarding. Maintenance is a burden, having to keep up with platform updates, adding new features, fixing bugs.
I ended up having to split my build between F-Droid and #GooglePlay/Apple #AppStore.
Which sucks for my #FDroid users. They're going to be stuck with a slightly inferior experience.
