  1. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who reported the harassment that occurred at the CSWE #APM2022 and to everyone who has supported our student who was one of the victims of this harassment. Incidents like this should never occur within our spaces and social workers should never enter these spaces fearful that this will occur. 1/3

  2. @erin Aww. Thanks Erin. Yes! A whole new batch of episodes is on its way. I'm recording some interviews this weekend at #APM2022.

  3. I see that #StopASWB is on mastodon now I’m so I’m boosting the hashtag in solidarity and to connect. The ASWB exam is racist and should have no role in determining who is or is not competent to practice social work. Our profession must do better. #APM2022

  4. I haven’t logged for a couple of days as I traveled to the CSWE #APM2022 conference. I’m so grateful for this change of scenery & chance to catch up with colleagues. img: a canopy of palm trees and climbing vines against a blue sky.

  5. Today is the day to kick off #APM2022! Let’s get this hashtag going here so we can all connect with fellow #SocialWorkers.

I haven’t been to an academic conference since January 2020 so am really looking forward to seeing many people, particularly those whom I’ve met on the other app but never in person. I’m looking forward to meeting you!

  6. Does anyone know if there's a service like Symplur for Mastodon? One of the things I love about Twitter is the metrics. I registered the #APM2022 #SocialWork conference hashtag about 30 minutes ago and we already have some sweet analytics. @socialwork

  7. The biggest #SocialWork education conference in the world is happening in California this week. Follow #APM2022 for all the goodies. If this is your first (or first in a while) in-person conference, here are my quick tips. Please share yours @socialwork !

    1. Bring your own instant coffee or favorite tea bags. Use the hotel coffee maker to make hot water. If I can't have an espresso, I like my coffee with lots of cream and sugar. Trader Joe's instant coffee comes with cream and sugar. Win!

    2. Bring cash for tipping hotel housekeeping (min. $5/day) and anyone else who helps you get to your conference. Housekeeping is dangerous and underpaid work. Economic justice = advocating for a living wage and better working conditions AND tipping generously.

    3. Visit the exhibit hall and get to know editors. They are always looking for folks to write or edit volumes. The conversation you have this weekend will turn into a book 5 years from now. Also, publishers often give away or discount display copies on Sunday.

    4. Take selfies and share all the good information people are presenting on social media with #APM2022. Sharing on IG, TikTok, Twitter, Mastodon, etc. chips away at the economic injustice of high priced conferences! I have a whole podcast episode on it: socialworkpodcast.com/2015/04/

    5. Hang out in the hotel lobby. It is a GREAT to meet people you know and want to get to know. If you're new to academia, go up and say hi to that author you've cited. If you're an old timer, just hang in the lobby and friends will come. See you soon!

  8. @GinaGi @APBBlue I'm so sorry to hear that your work environment was so toxic, but great that you're leaving! Will you be at #APM2022 ?

  9. @mfkewin Very cool. Boost my post and help me spread the word about using this platform for #APM2022. TYIA

  10. One more thought about Day 1 on Mastodon: This platform could be great for capturing #APM2022 because of 5000 character limit for posts AND the centralized @socialwork group.

Anyone else thinking of using Mastodon to microblog the conference?
