  2. „Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives“ -Directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul

@SemanticApparatus

  3. This evening's viewing distraction: Apichatpong Weerasethakul's intriguing and unusual Memoria, starring the amazing Tilda Swinton (and currently available free on Film4 if you're in the UK)

  4. Last night's "slow cinema" feature was Apichatpong Weerasethakul's "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives". Dream logic guides an aging man and his sister-in-law through his last night in this incarnation on earth. (I swear I watched this before, but I could only remember the opening scene.)

  9. MEMORIA, like all of Apichatpong Weerasethakul's films, is filled with ghosts--people neither dead nor alive, fabricated like the world itself anew on the screen, and thus liberated (to their awe & terror) from our biologically limited perception of life, space, time. *Stunning*. Weerasethakul knows that aside from injury or illness, art is the closest humans can get to experiencing death while alive; cinema as dissolution of bodily existence.
