My little cold blooded killer. Imagine looking at this girl and your first thought/reaction is fear. Makes me sad when people do that. This dog doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Loves everybody, even complete strangers. Loves other animals. APBT's are not devil dogs. Shitty people make shitty dogs, regardless of the breed. Some of the best dogs I have ever met/owned have been APBT and my girls grew up fine with them.

Queen Maeve. We had a Lightsaber battle and tapping into the dark side has winded the poor girl. I used the blue saber, so naturally I'm not drained. If this dogs tongue was any bigger, she'd choke on it.

I'll admit it, I was worried when Stevie's #DNA came back genetically as 100% #APBT #AmericanPitBullTerrier but having met so many of the breed through the years, who just wanted to be a playful #Dog with my #Dogs I knew I had to give the #PitBull in her a chance, and she's lived up to every loving expectation I've had of #PitBulls who haven't been corrupted by asshole humans. And since they have a hard time being adopted, we're probably leaning towards them, since #AllDogs need loving homes.

She's the quintessential #APBT, who just wants to love people and other dogs (or just meet other dogs and then keep up on her walk after a few sniffs).

And just as a follow-on, the *vast* majority of #apbt that were initially raised to be aggressive, once they found their way to an appropriate rescue, have been rehabilitated to be loving family dogs, returning to their natural habits and temperaments. Blame the humans, not the breed.

@Margaritak she's an absolute dream. Which is why I guess, when she's being super friendly with strangers (so, always), I tell them her actual breed. Like, every #apbt I've met in the wild has had the same temperament. They just want to make friends and play with people and other dogs. Or sit on you and lick you to death, which is a good way to go...

@ghost_shit oh, it is *definitely* shitty owners. In the 1950s and 1960s, the #apbt was a family dog, a working dog, a protector of your kids. Stevie will literally do *anything* to avoid her teeth touching a person (well, aside from nips while licking us to death). Even super-excited, she uses lips to take treats. An attack by a Mastiff pup 20+ lbs heavier, she just sat there and looked at us for help. When she's gotten loose, it's "hi new friend! Let's play!" Absolute sweetheart...

Every time Stevie and I are on our weekend walks and we meet new people and/or dogs, I'm asked what breed she is. I pause for a moment, then say something like, "Believe it or not, she's 100% pit bull. She doesn't look like it, but she is." And then I like to point out how she just wants to be friends with everyone, and is just so loving (usually as she's licking her new friend). The #apbt has gotten a bad rap. She's the *least* aggressive dog I've ever known, not even defending herself.
