I have an interesting problem. Our apartment lacks adequate ventilation and our co2 levels are always very high. I have a monitors in multiple rooms and at night with the door closed our bedroom is around 1600-2000+ppm. The recommended levels are under 1000ppm. For adults its not great, but my wife and I are expecting our first in March. Prolonged co2 levels above 1500ppm increased risk potential cognitive effects and 2000ppm is very unhealthy for infants. There aren't any laws or regulations around residential indoor air quality, so the apartment complex doesn't have to remedy the situation.

"An organization and #DIY design pro shows how easy composting can be, no matter what size space you're living in. 'You can #compost even if you live in a small apartment,' Shavonne (@restyleliving) promises at the beginning of her video.

"Shavonne goes step by step through the process. First thing: You have to start saving food scraps. You can keep them in a bin under your sink or, if you're concerned about the smell, you can always freeze them.

"Grab an inexpensive bin from the store. Bonus points if you can find one from Goodwill or another secondhand shop. Next, take a drill and create holes about 4 inches apart all over the body and lid of the bin for oxygen. Hot tip — make sure it's not too close to the bottom so that water can't leak out.

"Now you're ready to fill it up.

"'Alternate between layers of brown and greens,' Shavonne advises. 'Browns are your carbons, which are leaves or paper products. Greens are your nitrogen or food products.'

"Anything you can eat can be composted, along with eggshells, paper products, and coffee grounds. You can put the bin in your garage or on your porch.

"Shavonne says the fertilizer will be ready in three to six months, although worms can help break everything down faster.

"Warning: Gnats and fruit flies will appear, so make sure you put your bin somewhere that won't become a problem." [One could also have fruit fly traps nearby -- which is what I do]

I think that's #apartmentliving at this point.
Everything is built with bilder basic low quality now.
I had maintenance in here to fix my bathtub faucet five times last year.
Eventually, I just snapped and bought the parts so I could do it myself. I'm also redoing my own flooring because I cannot be bothered to deal with them.
Plus maintenance people in here make me anxious and I end up offering them coffee like 8 times before they leave.

Redoing the floor in my bathroom because maintenance would manage to make a weeklong project out of this and I've got a thing about wanting it done right so I'm doing it myself.
Here is part 1.
I've got the floor divided into sections, so I'll repair a new section as soon as the previous one finishes drying.

I found out today that I'm not going to get the faculty housing at CU Boulder, so my partner and I need to find a new place. Boulder isn't really an option, so I'm looking at apartments in NW Denver. This review for an apartment in the $1500/mo range really struck me. The "standard stuff in Denver" is too relatable at this point. Even paying $2300+ won't get you out of it. Really wish I was being hyperbolic.

Update - 2-bedroom 1400-sq-ft apartments in eastern MA are now going for $5200/month. That's almost DOUBLE my mortgage.

How good or how bad is #satellite service when you live in an apartment building?

For the next few years nothing will be built outside my side of the building. Pretty much a clear view of the sky. I've seen balconies with satellite dishes (not our building). I wonder if I could do the same. Is it worth getting #Starlink hardware? No 2-year contract (unlike fiber, cable) is what I like about it. But the hardware is really pricey.
