I've listened to so many of the songs you good people have been kind enough to share and I'm really grateful for that. Unfortunately that prevents me to pick just one from the vast ocean of excellent music 😔
Ashen by #HumanitysLastBreath was my #AOTY2023, which made me discover the sound. Exploring the genre (some say it isn't one, nor is #Djent, but who cares) has put new bands onto my radar.

My best of 2023 selection majorly consists of albums with some personal value (while also being top in terms of musical quality). Those who've followed me for a while might notice that my taste has gradually shifted over the last couple of years. A separate list for EPs, Demos and Splits shall follow sometime later as well as a couple more top releases grouped by similarity.

Blackbraid II in particular was a revelation, a tonic and an obsession in 2023.

Looking at the #MetalAOTY and #AOTY2023 lists coming through, two things are clear:

1. I need to listen to more new metal in 2024.

2. I need to listen to a few albums again - ones that didn't grab me in the first few listens but clearly have resonated strongly with other Fedimetal people.

#KingGizzard received a boost and is a serious contender for Metal AOTY.

#Blackbraid entered very high, but is currently not a contender.

#SwarfDamage from Manx is worth a listen.

#MammothWVH migth get a boost soon, because their songs are stuck in my head since my first spin.

Apart from that some good (3,5*) and solid+ (3*) albums have been added.
