The song I heard on Freak the Sheep definitely came first. It was Kim Blackburn's Lizards in Love 1, from the album of the same name released in 1986;

Clearly Toki didn't dig it. Our parody (I hesitate to call it homage) was entitled Axolotl: The Boring Song, featured a slow, languid guitar line, and the vocals ended it by shouting "this song is boring!" 😆

One of the things thar disturbs me about Heinz Watties announcement that they were closing down their vegetable and food processing plants in Dunedin, Christchurch and Auckland is how a large foreign corporate took over the company abd is slowly destroying it. Over some years now they have stopped using locally grown produce and substituted imported products e.g. asparagus, tomatoes and corn, from much cheaper source countries like Peru and Thailand. Local farmers lose contracts. #Aoteroa becomes more dependent on imported food in place of more secure home grown food. So Heinz is increasing our food security risk. That should be a concern for every Kiwi. Something similar occured with Mondelez. Huge global cirporatiins like these are like vultures stripping everything down to the bone. #foodsecurity #globalisation #corporations #risk

New Zealand spite voted it's Progressive government out a few years ago and now everyone wants to leave.
The same thing happens every time the Protest Voters win, people suffer, grifting explodes and the Young want to give up and emigrate.

@rmondello
So much to see and experience over North and South Islands. You might want to think about going for a longer time - that week and a half will soon get eaten up.
If/when you go please post some updates.
Enjoy.

Anyone want to make a trending_bot for #Australian and #Aoteroa instances? Would it be wanted?

I hope you all go along to this wonderful exhibition that I just wrote a review about in Otepoti Dunedin.

"I was given some advice before making it into Parliament - to not take anything personally or it'll eat you up."
"In only a couple of weeks, in only 14 days, this Government has attacked my whole world from every corner."
"Health, taiao (environment), wai (water), whenua (land), natural resources, Māori wards, reo, tamariki. How can I not take anything personally when it feels like these policies were made about me?"
"I am not fearful of this place, or this debating chamber."
"I was perfectly fine growing my kūmara and learning maramataka (Māori lunar calendar), but this House kept tampering with things they shouldn't be touching, and that's why I left the māra (garden) to come here."

#ClimateAction is not expensive: inaction is.
"The Commission's analysis also showed that delaying key actions, such as transitioning to electric vehicles, could result in #GDP falling by 2.3% in 2050. Shaw emphasized that the Commission's data "makes it crystal clear that the cost of inaction is much more than that of action.""
