She's spoken at many #churches and taught students about the ancient Jewish context of Jesus' life and teachings. But after the #Catholic Biblical Association of #America announced earlier this month that Levine was elected its first-ever Jewish president, an #antisemitic backlash began.
Denunciations appeared [...] Critics called her “anti-Christian,” claimed she's trying to hijack #Catholicism, denounced Jews for not accepting Jesus, and tacked on anti- #Zionist comments.
While some questioned why the association would appoint anyone who wasn't a Catholic, much of the criticism was infused with anti-Jewish statements. They come at a time of rising #antisemitism in the country.

The amount of hate these people have in them is astonishing.
"Iconic country #singer #DollyParton died Aug. 25 at age 80 after “a short battle with cancer,” according to a statement from her family. After her death, a nation mourned, with tributes and obituaries filling the internet.
But some anonymous posters managed to attack #Parton, who was not #Jewish, with #antisemitic slurs and imagery.
According to the British nongovernmental organization Campaign Against Antisemitism, the singer’s #Wikipedia page was vandalized with the phrase “#Jew lover” and a #swastika in the wake of her death. The edits were reportedly a reference to Parton’s friendship with her Jewish manager of more than 20 years, #SandyGallin."

"The #BBC has rejected complaints over the use of an #antisemitic phrase on one of its programs, arguing that the reference did not explicitly mention #Jews and therefore did not constitute #antisemitism.
The controversy arose during an episode of the BBC’s Gardeners’ Question Time radio program, when one panelist referred to another as “moneybags Rothschild.”
The phrase is a reference to the #Rothschild family, the prominent #Jewish banking dynasty whose wealth and Jewish identity have made it a longstanding target of #antisemitic #conspiracy theories.
A viewer subsequently filed a complaint with the BBC’s Editorial Complaints Unit (#ECU), arguing that the reference was antisemitic and inappropriate.

The group, he said, understood that they were in danger. Its members split up in an attempt to avoid being surrounded. “There was a huge crowd of people around us,” #Zagrone said. According to him, at one point the atmosphere became threatening and frightening.
Zagrone even tried to make clear to the attackers that he was #French and not #Israeli. He said he did so in an effort to prevent the incident from escalating. However, he said, the harassment continued. Members of the group were insulted and spat at for dozens of minutes, and eventually fled the area and returned to their hotel.
Zagrone, who was wearing a #kippah during the #antisemitic incident, said some members of the group were wearing head coverings. “One was a #Chabad #Hasid wearing traditional #Jewish clothing, a long coat and a black kippah.”

The organization, whose goal is to combat online #antisemitism, identified “nearly identical narratives” regarding recent wildfires in #Norway, #France, and #Spain, reinforcing what Cyberwell describes as a “recurring pattern of event-driven antisemitism, in which major crises are exploited to spread hate toward Jews.”
Posts in #English, #French, and #Spanish claiming that Jewish people deliberately sparked the #fires or orchestrated them for political or financial gain were identified by the organization’s analysts."

Nearly half of Americans are now considered “unengaged” in combating antisemitism. The percentage identifying as active allies has fallen sharply. A majority now believes #Jews can largely handle antisemitism on their own, and nearly one-third no longer considers #Holocaust denial to be #antisemitic.
Those numbers reveal something more profound than prejudice. They reveal indifference.

"The #CommunitySecurityTrust (#CST), an organisation that provides security support to the #Jewish community, recorded 1,926 incidents of anti-Jewish hate across the #UK in the first six months of 2026.
It represents a 21% increase on the number of similar incidents reported in the first half of last year.
It also marks the second highest total of #antisemitic hate incidents ever recorded by CST in the first half of any year since the organisation began collecting data in 1984.
Policing Minister Sarah Jones said the numbers were "appalling" and showed people "living in fear just for being who they are".
The incidents logged in the first few months of 2026 include a series of #arson attacks against Jewish organisations and #synagogues in #London.

Antisemitic videos made up just 4.7% of all content the ARC sampled for the study — 92 of 1,960 videos. But they accounted for 32% of each account's fifteen most-viewed videos (24 of 75), making them 6.8 times more likely to appear among an account's top-performing videos.
"For years, we've understood #online #antisemitism through coordinated campaigns and bad actors," said ARC Research Associate #OliverMarks. "However, our new research suggests that model is no longer sufficient on its own. The damage was discovered when the locations opened Sunday morning and is believed to have occurred overnight between Saturday and Sunday.
At around 8:12 a.m., police received a report that a window had been struck by #gunfire at the #bakery’s location at Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue.
Police confirmed that evidence of #firearm use was found, including a #bullethole in the business’s front window.
Then at around 8:30 a.m., police were called to another #Kivas location on Steeles Avenue West near Bathurst Street, shattered front window was also found there, although police found no evidence of gunfire."

"A #mural in #Italy depicting #Holocaust victim and diarist #AnneFrank and #Italian Holocaust survivor and #writer #PrimoLevi was vandalized with #antisemitic graffiti recently, The Algemeiner has learned.
The mural was created by Italian contemporary #artist #AleXsandroPalombo to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day and is displayed on the wall of the #MontelloBarracks in #Milan. #Frank and #Levi are portrayed seated opposite one another as they both look up to a sky filled with yellow Stars of David. Across the sky is the message: “Memory Is No Longer Enough.” Vandals covered the phrase and painted the words “#ZIONIST #SETTLER #NAZIS.” Levi’s face was also defaced."

The #poll of 7,053 #US adults, conducted from March 4 to April 3, found that 32% of respondents said they do not believe questioning the Holocaust is antisemitic, up from 26% in August 2025.
The #survey’s margin of sampling error is ±0.92 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
Agreement with all 10 antisemitic #tropes tracked by the survey—including claims that #Jews control #Hollywood and the #media or are more loyal to #Israel than the #UnitedStates—also increased since summer 2025. The rise in agreement with individual statements ranged from 12% to 38%, according to the survey."
