  1. The haul (not all of it)

    - Limoges Porcelain tea set in perfect condition. Beautiful details (5 - 8 EUR each)

    - Carved wood box with inlaid brass. Needs some tlc and repair (1.50 eur)

    - Ceramic duck toilet brush holder. Joy! The kttens broke our 20+yr old one. Now I have a replacement.

    - Pewter pitcher, blue glass one too

    - Vintage beaded bag. Incredibly detailed, obviously handmade. 5 euros!

  2. Got my vintage on today. Found it 1956 Elijah Cotton Lord Nelson Ware beer mug, a pair of matching Nick & Nora glasses and a glass shaker with a silver tone pour top. By chance, the N&N glasses match the pattern of champagne glasses I already own. Only one scrounge today but it was successful and scratched the itch. #vintage #antiquing

  3. I mentioned that we went to an antique store yesterday. I was hoping to maybe find some old camera gear. I saw a grand total of four cameras. One was digital so it doesn’t count. One was a Ricoh film camera that looked like it was probably from the 1990’s. I didn’t know anything about it so I passed. There were two really old cameras. The Kodak Autographic Jr that I posted yesterday. I was really interested in that one but I wanted to dig into it a bit first. That was a good move. They don’t make the film it uses anymore. Bummer. You can get adapters that let you use 120 film but that is a smidge above my interest level at this point. The fourth camera was a Kodak Brownie from the 1950’s that was interesting too, but looking into that told me what I was already pretty sure of. They don’t make the film that camera uses either. Oh well. Maybe next time.

    There was this though…

That would look fantastic in our living room, don’t you think?

  4. We went to an antique store in Lawrence, MA today. I was looking for camera gear and not expecting to find anything.

I was right that there wasn’t much to see, but I did see one that has me super intrigued.

$79 seems way too much for this, but I am going to spend some time on the YouTube doing some research and maybe I might go back again. Folding cameras from pre-war are sort of what I was thinking of for my first step into the medium format world.

    We’ll see.

  5. What's cooler than a bustle in your hedgerow? A secret code in your bustle.

An antique dress hid coded messages that have finally been unlocked

A 19th-century book helped crack the code in cryptic notes found in a dress bought at a Maine antique mall

  6. I saw this beautiful inlay table at an antique store today. The tabletop lifts and there’s a music box inside… and it plays a pretty tune. Thinking about it… #antiquing

  7. Happy #piDay! To celebrate I’m enjoying #coffee out of this “π-lingual” mug, a somewhat recent #antiquing find

(No, I don’t know how it qualifies as an antique either and yes I probably agree with any opinions you hold on date formats or approximations :) )

  8. Went to a #fleamarket today. Among our finds was a set of these crystal brandy glasses. Testing them out with not brandy.

  9. Of interest may be the "bust" of hedge-fund #billionaire Michael Steinhardt.
He was investigated starting in 2018, for having unregistered art, including "fresh" (directly from the dig site) pieces.

He freely admits he is more interested in #aesthetics than provenance. In 2021, he was told that he would not be charged with any crime if he surrendered his pieces. 180 in all.

He is the first person to be legally banned from #antiquing.

  10. This appears to be a None-Such coffee grinder mill dealy from the Bronson Walton Co., not from the None Such mincemeat folks at the Merrell-Soule Company/Borden or the Nonesuch Records people at Warner Music Group. Seen at the Bismarck Antique Mall. #coffee #antiques #vintage #history #antiquing #kitchen #northdakota
