It's disturbing to me how many people I meet who are on #antipsychotic drugs when they have absolutely no #disorder or #health condition that couldn't be treated in a different way.
Almost everyone I met who was #homeless or poor, who had state #insurance which didn't give access to great #mentalhealth care.
Often for things like #depression #anxiety or #ptsd. Even just sleep in many cases.
They should ONLY be used as a last option.
They cause #braindamage over extended use, at any dose.
You should really think twice about taking #Antipsychotic drugs unless you ABSOLUTELY need them.
Recent studies have shown that they caused brain damage, due to oxidative stress put on the brain by messing with dopamine, reducing gray matter, or otherwise, neurons for those unsure about what that means.
They caused ME brain and nerve damage in about six years of misdiagnosis.
Turns out many disorders aren't degenerative. It was being caused by the drugs themselves.
@patamystic Yup. I was one of them. I got brutalized by the mental health system, who convinced me I needed #antipsychotic drugs, which made me depressed and lazy, leading to addiction, and brain damage.
They made my Tourettes worse, as well as caused nerve damage that is permanent.
I was misdiagnosed as Schizoaffective before someone figured out it was Tourettes, comorbid problems, and #cptsd.
I'm not the only one that happens to, #usa doctors have mostly given up.

Quetiapine Day 6. 25mg 9am/9pm.
11am I want to doze.
1pm I have very heavy eyelids, really want to sleep.
4pm start to feel okay
7pm feel fine.
I also have the serious munchies. Like post-pub hunger. Constant. Living on fruit and rusks.
Transient effects, will (hopefully) pass.
No alcohol though.
Does anyone else take #seroquel and does it make you just so fucking like drag-your-consciousness-down-by-the-gullet sleepy? I’ve also been having extremely vivid (benign to positive) dreams too. I’ve dropped from 6mg to 3mg of Invega (Paliperidone), an antipsychotic. It feels slightly odd. Like someone has lifted the lid on a box that was keeping parts of my perception locked away. Nothing is bothering me particularly, it’s just a strange experience. (Meds were reduced as they were messing badly with blood sugar).
