Feeling late to the punch with creating an account here, as the alternative, non-federated options grow more and more invasive/toxic/propagandized each day.

A worthy sentiment for our first post:

So here is the core of this problem. You cannot live in a dream world where everyone arround you will immediately agrees with you. There might be totally sane people who are aware of their privacy violations that are google and meta, but they don't mind it.

So i cannot shake off whatsapp that easilly, not yet. After meta will make the service full of ads and functions behind paywalls people will finally abandon it. Untill we all send signlas freely.

And not to mention other outside world like work. I get work related info in whatsapp. Big company will not hear my whining about privacy and choice.

So to the surtain extend whatsapp will be still mandatory. So sad...

How ever, i am still going to use signal and will push its use for my friend groups.

But what to do about whatsapp? Leave it be? Erase somehow my acount and use another bullshit one? I really don't know at the moment.

So, even if I change to signal some of my friends won't. They don't see anything wrong with whatapp. They are happy little products to be mined for data and they know it. It is a choice and everyone has to have that right. If we where to mandate people to use surtain services we would not be any better than shitty corpos we try to avoid. Its all about choice.

My choice will ve Signal. But i don't want to lose contact just because of one service...

I have a plan to gradually faceout all meta and google from my day to day use. And eventually discord as well. And now i arrive at whatsapp vs signal.

I prefer signal due to its open source and anti corporate structure. Easy win right?

Not so fast. This is not my PC that is now running Linux mint, this is communication tool that is only good as people i communicate with. So in this case i am going to have to be signal evangelist 😅

It's almost been a year since Splatter came out and I need to talk about it

It's a violent, wet and slippery score shooter in a parody of the Metaverse. You were algorithmically selected as the best person to enter this hellscape that generates revenue for the four administrators;

• Straight up new age cult leader
• [???] Has other plans in mind for you and The Program

Across 16 levels you play through unique arenas of their creation, they talk to you (with subtitles) as they try to coax you into being their ideal candidate. You can run, jump, dodge slide, and try to survive hordes that increase in difficulty using the various weapons given to you. Meanwhile you're listening to this experimental and dynamic soundtrack that I have to say deserves the spotlight among the greats alongside what Toby Fox does for his fight scenes and Mick Gordon did for Doom's atmosphere.

Also, I really liked that it has enemy health and damage sliders before each level so I could tailor it to any difficulties I was having.

Here's the trigger warnings as listed on the Steam page: Flashing lights, visual glitches/distortion, explicit language. It also contains references to self harm, drug use, bigotry, sexual assault, kidnapping, and cult indoctrination.

@Mastodon it'd be all well and good, but NOT WITH META. How could you say it's a victory for YOUR cause (definitely not ours) when Meta is the home of countless LAW, freedom and privacy violations, and after THEY filtered out Mastodon promoting posts on Facebook the first way? Don't dare to say it was an AI error. It happened with Pixelfed too. This just really makes me disgusted.

Since Meta is trying to federate us, I'll be locking down my account to private until the Meta instance is up an running and until I can block it entirely. The reason I do that, because this way, no one can follow me from that instance, so my account data would not get pulled out to Meta's instance. :)

I love the criticism about the #antimeta #fedipact, stating how #ActivityPub or the #Fediverse will fail, if we decide not to federate with #Meta. This is a big LIE. Remember to Gab? Gab was a fork of #Mastodon and because it was basically the home of hate speech, the whole Fediverse defederated with it. Did ActivityPub or the Fediverse fail? I don't think so.

We just don't want the evil to come destroy what we've already built up.

Here's how you will know when you've block threads.net on Mastodon 4.1.0 and above, as well as the resulting #iptables and #ip6tables entries.
