Mi próximo PC va a tener más IA que CPU y no sé cómo sentirme.

He estado viendo los nuevos procesadores que vienen con núcleos NPU dedicados solo para Inteligencia Artificial. A ver, sobre el papel suena increíble, mucha potencia y tal... pero me escama. ¿Para qué quieren que tengamos tanta potencia de IA en local? ¿Es para que Windows me espíe mejor con cosas tipo Recall o para que yo pueda correr mis propios modelos sin que nadie me censure desde una nube?

Estamos en un punto crítico, de verdad. O usamos ese hardware para ser libres de una vez o nos lo van a meter doblado para que seamos simples terminales tontas conectadas a sus servidores. Yo lo tengo clarísimo: ese NPU se va a comer modelos Open Source y localizados o no entra en mi casa. No quiero una IA que me dé sermones morales cada vez que le pido algo técnico.

¿Alguien más está planeando el salto a hardware dedicado o creéis que nos la van a colar con el software de serie?

And the Italians know. Recall that it was Mussolini's speech writer who defined fascism as 'the merger of the state & the corporation'. The fascists *hated* cooperatives. Today Italians strongly prefer cooperatives over corporations.

Someone should make an open source voice/video service that uses existing IRC servers for text chat. If I actually felt like I could learn to code this is what I would be making to try and KILL DISCORD and bring back IRC. I'm so sick of all the lame ass paywalled shit that discord offers.

The chat infrastructure is still there!! Just make it easier for people to get connected and have voice/video hosted separately or whatever. I dunno, I'm also high rn so. :KonaHerb:

This laptop, I pulled out the motherboard with 2GB memory and put in another one that had 4GB. The memory is soldered to the motherboard on all the Chromebooks I've seen.

I then took that C740 board and put it in a C720 laptop. That motherboard seemed to be dead, so took it out and the C740 board fits almost perfectly. The exception is just the connectors for the wifi antennas were a larger size on the C720 than on the C740. That's an easy fix as I can scavenge the correct connector size from another device if I really want to get this laptop fully functional with wifi.

At least try to reduce the amount you spend with corporations who do not have your best interests in mind.

Big corporations may not actively hate you, but many of them certainly act like they don't care about you.

Buy from people you know, like and trust.

Also had our regular Friday delivery of milk, hamburger and eggs.
