While Rachel Tobac often talks about protection against social engineering, using app-based MFA/NFC Keys, etc., I still believe the average user should take it a step further. This video is still 100% spot on and I think Rachel Tobac is one of the best leaders in the industry.

My outlook: we shouldn't treat the internet as if it's safe, because it isn't, and we should stop putting our data online as much as possible. Zero-trust frameworks should be practiced by everyone.

• Linux (advanced) > MacOS (user-friendly) > Windows

Note: I highly suggest tech savvy people just learn Linux and proper Linux security hygiene. Apple is a lesser of two evils (in my opinion).

• Open-source, de-Googled OSes (e.g., GrapheneOS) > Google's Android OS

• FIDO2/NFC Keys > App-based MFA > SMS MFA

No social media > Social Media Sock Puppets > Private social Media > Having no privacy controls

Note: I understand not being on social media can be a challenge but we can take steps to reduce our footprint and stop giving our data away.

We do have a say and more people should be aware that we do hold power. We don't have to keep tolerating the invasive behavior from big tech. Let enterprises use it if they want to but we can choose if we allow them in our home, on trusted networks or VLANs, what data we give to them, etc. We don't have to tolerate them bullying us constantly with their abusive practices.

Reduce your footprint.

I finally did it! After several months of navigating the challenges of deGoogling, I just deleted my Google account after 15+ years. I was deeply invested in the Google ecosystem, and it has not been easy. However, the journey has been worth it.

I've replaced everything I used from Google with FOSS options, and I'm already noticing the benefits, like increased privacy and control over my data. One of the biggest challenges was finding reliable alternatives, but I’ve discovered some fantastic tools along the way.

Have any of you made a similar switch? I’d love to hear your experiences or any recommendations you might have!

It's not about Linux lacking a pretty GUI. It's not about not running popular apps. That's not the point - all of that can be figured out. The point is that I choose what runs on my system. Not someone who's never met me, but knows every move I make :blobeyes:

Neat to see a mainstream youtuber using the privacy respecting "services" I have been exploring. Nextcloud is truly transformative. Google maps or Waze is hard to not use, and I have been loving having privacy as default on graphene.

Would love to see Pewdiepie get into proxmox, but I guess with docker he is pretty much there.
