  4. Bring immigrant stories to your classroom and community with film! Today we're highlighting Mimi Hassanein, one of the subjects of our new documentary Resisterhood. Mimi is a a first-generation Egyptian immigrant, a popular political activist and grandmother of 15. She was asked to run for county office during the 2018 midterm elections.

The section on Mimi in the Resisterhood Learning Guide focuses on the driving question: What are some of the challenges immigrants overcome to make friends in new communities, while also preserving their own cultural identities?

Teach about the immigrant experience in the US, migrants, Muslims, and civic participation with Resisterhood! For grades 10-12, higher ed and adult learning. It's great for campus screenings and community education!

  6. @RosyMaths For anti-bias education, a great film for your students' age range might be Whale Rider. It streams for free in many regions. It tells a compelling story of a girl around your students' age pursing her destiny despite other people's prejudice. And it's a good starting point for discussions about gender, culture, and identity.

We hope this helps! If you have more questions or requests, please let us know! 2/n
