Diotima has been told that she cannot use the admin account of the Speakeasy to drop savage disses so we shall just say that David is a known bad actor who needs to touch so much grass that he should start a lawn care service.

I had naively assumed when I wrote the first in this series that the YouTube videos in the Google News feed would be mostly from middle or centrist news outlets. That was wrong, so I wanted to see who was the most popular. I wish I hadn't. Then I read the comments section, and that went poorly, too.

#Trans folx in #Kansas given 1 day to surrender their (now invalid) IDs and driver's licenses to the state. As of tomorrow (Thursday), driving while trans is a class-B misdemeanor ($1000 fine and up to 6 months in jail).
The zero-grace-period execution means driving to turn in your license is a crime.
Oh yeah, this bill also enacted a bathroom bounty program allowing private individuals to sue trans folx for using the restroom.

For #trans people, however, the legislative and policy assaults, which have been escalating red states for nearly a decade, are only getting worse — and, as ever, drawing all too little concern from Democratic leaders.
"Just last week, the Kansas legislature passed some of the most far-reaching measures to push trans and #GenderNonconforming people out of public life to date. Bathroom bans that bar trans people from restrooms aligned with their gender identity have become grimly common; over 20 states have such a law on the books. But Kansas’s new anti-trans bathroom bill adds a dangerous twist: a #BountyHunter provision.
"The law would permit private citizens to sue and seek monetary reward based on claiming to encounter a trans person in the bathroom. That’s on top of some of the harshest punishments of any existing bathroom bans, such as criminal charges, steep fines and even jail time.
"As journalist and trans rights advocate Erin Reed first reported, the bill’s vague language means that its reach could extend beyond public buildings — the remit of most bathroom bans around the country.
" 'As written, it would not only be the first bathroom bounty law to target transgender people directly, but also the first to extend a bathroom ban into private spaces,' noted Reed, “effectively creating the nation’s first private bathroom ban if enacted by empowering bounty hunters to search for trans people in bathrooms.'

"Kansas Republicans rushed through the bathroom ban, skirting public comment by essentially sneaking the bill into another piece of legislation aimed at denying trans people correct government IDs. The ID legislation is in and of itself extreme: it would invalidate driver’s licenses, government IDs, and even birth certificates that don’t list a person’s sex as assigned at birth.
"The bill would require trans people to surrender their correctly identifying driver’s license or risk a misdemeanor offense for driving with a invalid license. Trans Kansans would thus have to choose between carrying identification with their assigned sex at birth — inviting potentially further harassment and violence in public — or forgoing aspects of public life entirely. In the 20 years of the old rules system, where trans women were allowed after two years of complete HRT, there was one (1) trans woman Olympian. She didn't medal in anything.
The Beeb ran an article leading up to this a few days ago. Their photo with the headline about trans women was of Imane Khelif, a CIS women that MAGA and terfdom decided was trans no matter what, because she was too strong and not pretty enough, and s if a nation that literally EXECUTES QUEER PEOPLE OF LITERALLY EVERY KIND would fucking send a trans athlete to represent them in the Olympics.
It's an exemplar of the obscene stupidity and evil hatred in which they revel, and now it's policy.

Volgende hoofdstuk in de "misgenderd door de #politie" saga. TLDR tot nu toe: ik deed aangifte wegens #anti-trans geweld en werd in die aangifte gemisgenderd: ik heb een "X" en die stond ook in de achtergrond in hun systeem, toch werd er in de inleiding van de aangifte naar mij verwezen met "hij" en dat kon niet aangepast worden want dat was een onderdeel van het template... Daar heb ik een #klacht over ingediend, na enige tijd nam de politie daarover contact met me op, dat ze het voorlopig niet konden oplossen maar wel "zouden melden" zodat dat issue ooit opgelost zou kunnen worden... Vervolgens daarmee naar de Nationale #Ombudsman gestapt, die had immers in 2014 al een uitspraak gedaan waarin werd gesteld dat #trans mensen het #recht hebben om correct aangesproken te worden (destijds ging het om een trans vrouw die nog als man geregistreerd stond die door het UWV gemisgenderd werd - mijn geval is dus iets anders maar wel vergelijkbaar).
Fast forward naar vandaag. Vanmiddag werd ik gebeld door de Nationale Ombudsman. Zij vinden het een interessante casus en zouden er graag mee aan de gang gaan, maar mijn klacht bij de politie was afgehandeld in "fase 1", en was dus nog geen officiële klacht waarover de politie een oordeel heeft geveld. Voordat de Ombudsman ermee aan de slag kan, zou de klacht in "fase 2" ontoerijkend moeten zijn opgelost. De Ombudsman gaat dus namens mij contact opnemen met de politie om mijn klacht alsnog naar "fase 2" te tillen. Vervolgens zal de politie met mij contact opnemen voor het verdere verloop van dat proces, met een officiële behandeling door de klachtencommissie.
Wat een gedoe, zou je kunnen denken, voor een aangifte die inmiddels alweer de prullenbak in is (onderzoek gestaakt wegens "verdachte niet te identificeren"), maar ik ga echt uit principe dit proces aan, hopelijk met als uitwerking dat trans en vooral #non-binaire mensen in de toekomst aangifte kunnen doen zonder misgenderd te worden! -
