Strange how for some people NGC 4039 does not seem to exist.🤔 For them the #AntennaeGalaxy consists of ngc4038 and ngc4038_North. 🤣

Stumbled on the JWST pictures of the Antennae Galaxy (NGC 4038/39) in the MAST archive yesterday and quickly put them together into two color pictures (f356w+f150w+f115w and f360m+f187n+f150w). I also made one with the MIRI f770w filter but that looks ugly.

Stumbled on the JWST pictures of the Antennae Galaxy (NGC 4038/39) in the MAST archive yesterday and quickly put them together into two color pictures (f356w+f150w+f115w and f360m+f187n+f150w). I also made one with the MIRI f770w filter but that looks ugly.

I am particularly happy that this paper used the MUSE dataset of the Antennae Galaxy and found more than 200 PN candidates in these cubes with the DELF method. The short distance quoted in some H0-related papers now looks like a strong outlier. Here's the animation (Fig. 40) through [OIII]5007.
