  1. Highly unlikely dream. I was hatching #snakes and #anoles and feeding them something like chicken. But I have only passing knowledge about snakes and such. I don’t expect they are that big from hatching or that carnivorous from the start. Maybe eating little things, but not whole chickens. Anyhow, different. The anole was very aggressive. So much so that I was searching for tongs to handle it, and then I woke up. #dream

  6. I'm going to listen to the new episode of squamatespod soon because I suspect @markscherz is somehow involved in the naming of six frogs after various Star Trek captains.

I kept expecting someone to say "Seven new frogs just beamed down" or something like that, but sadly nobody did. : (

research inspired by observation that after the islands where the anoles lived was affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, survivors had bigger toe-pads, and larger arms. The researchers had already been surveying the morphology of the anoles on the islands before the hurricanes struck, and discovered the change when they returned to survey work after.

  26. Unfortunately, I suspect these #anoles of collectively having a death wish. 😔 I haven't seen them for a few weeks, and I think it might have something to do with their propensity for climbing into highly visible locations and changing colour so they look like green laser-pointer spots.

So I suspect birds. Or perhaps the blue-tailed #skinks that abound. I wonder if they get along, or if they have a predator/prey relationship. 🤔

  31. At least three specimens of Anole carolinensis are living at the base of the house. This one is named Tonda (John Matuszak's character from "Caveman") because he's huge. The smallest, most retiring one is named Atouk, and the mid-sized one is Linebacker (because of his markings).
