  1. The most tragical thing about Anne With An E being discontinued is that Ka'kwet is still stuck in the Indian School 😭

  2. It’s Weekend, Let’s read: Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery

““Oh, Marilla,” she exclaimed one Saturday morning, coming dancing in with her arms full of gorgeous boughs, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it? Look at these maple branches. Don’t they give you a thrill—several thrills? I’m going to decorate my room with them.””

A favorite season asks for a favorite reading. The ‘ber months are indeed my favorites and I wouldn’t want to skip any of them.

You can read Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery right here, right now from Project Gutenberg.

Have a wonderful and nature colorful weekend!

  7. Green Gable

    #Wss366 #Mastoprompt #WordWeavers 21. How much detail? Part 4.

The tall gabled house stood on a hill with cottonwoods sheltering it from the dry wind. That was my first impression as the buggy drove toward it. We were traveling just fast enough for the red dust kicked up by the wheels to drift behind us in a lingering plume.

The weathered cowhand driving spat tobacco and muttered, “Durned if I know why they put’er there.”

As we drove up, the chickens, lazily scratching in the yard, scattered. An old rusty hound peered at us from under the porch, then went back to sleep.

The house was as sleepy as the hound and the slowly drifting cottonwood fluff. Peeling white paint revealed gray wood, as soft as a dove. A #green #shutter in the high gable caught my eye—half-open, gazing at the newcomer.

This was my new home. I wondered if it would be better than McMyrt’s Orphanage.

Note: The house is the character.

  8. The Anne of Green Gables Manuscript: L.M. Montgomery & the Creation of Anne [Shared]

The manuscript is housed in the collections of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Both sides of each page (recto and verso) were scanned at the Robertson Library's Digitization Lab at the University of Prince Edward Island.

  9. I finished Anne of Green Gables recently. I enjoyed it! I was reading other books at the same time, so it took me a while to finish it, but every time I listened to a chapter I liked it. It's funny and touching. I found that listening to a few of Anne's misadventures was a great way to wind down during anxious times. It was like spending time with a "kindred spirit" to borrow one of Anne's favorite phrases.

  10. I just finished watching the first episode of Anne Shirley (2025), the anime. I haven’t read the books since I was in middle school and I haven’t seen the movies since I was in grade school. It’s hard to watch the anime without feeling nostalgic.

  11. I asked The Lodger if he wanted to watch Man From UNCLE (2015 film).

    He heard Anne From UNCLE.

Now I'm thinking of plotting a spy film with Gilbert Blythe as Napoleon Solo, Anne Shirley as Kuryakin, and Marilla as a spymaster.

(Henry Cavill will be in there somewhere).

May 2, 2023: Foster child in movie

    “Anne of Green Gables” (1985)

Anne is an orphaned girl who is sent to live with an elderly pair of siblings.

(this was actually a tv miniseries but I thought it was a movie when I was little, and hopefully it is not too much of a stretch?)

  15. CW: Migraines

I wish there were more stories about characters who have #Migraines.

I think Marilla from #AnneOfGreenGables probably had migraines based the descriptions of her terrible “headaches” that sent her to her room for long periods of time.

What other books, films, songs, etc. can you recommend about characters who have a #Migraine or who you suspect did have them?

    #OTD Lucy Maud Montgomery, #Canadian #Writer & #Author of #AnneofGreenGables is born.

    Despite being a literary #Icon & loved worldwide, Lucy's personal life was marred by #Loneliness, #Death, & #Depression.

    Yet we know that #Flowers & #Gardening were a #Balm to her.

    She wrote,
    "I #Love my #Garden, & I love working in it.
My garden is like #Faith, the substance of things hoped for."
