  1. A few years ago, I named as many movie recommendations as I could that would amount to roughly three hundred characters when listed together. Hoping that constraint would make my list practical enough for folks to actually use.

Now, limiting myself again to about three hundred characters, I'll name my highest-recommended #GraphicNovels, #ShortStories, and #TV shows (in alphabetical order, as before)...

A SMALL KILLING by Moore and Zarate

COSMOS—A SPACETIME ODYSSEY by Druyan et al.

COSMOS—POSSIBLE WORLDS by Druyan et al.

    "Earth's Holocaust" by Hawthorne

FROM HELL by Moore and Campbell

    PROMETHEA by Moore et al.

"The Artist of the Beautiful" by Hawthorne

    "The Birthmark" by Hawthorne

    UNDERSTANDING COMICS by McCloud

I've been developing this new recommendation list ever since I posted its predecessor, believe it or not. Investigating hundreds of titles, among the three types of media. Comparing and contrasting. Scrutinizing the close calls and trade-offs.

Making such a short list for books/novels or their equivalents (not counting graphic novels) might be too hard for me, though. It seems there are too many outstanding choices, in that medium, to pare down to only three hundred characters. Still, I'll at least think about that for the future.

  2. #Quote at the beginning of Chapter 2 of #Comet by #CarlSagan and #AnnDruyan:
If at your coming princes disappear,
Comet! come every day – and stay a year.
    Samuel Johnson,
Letter to Mrs Thrale (6 October 1783).

  3. My new #BookAtBedtime is going to be #Comet by #CarlSagan and #AnnDruyan. This book was published to coincide with the return of #HalleysComet and it was a Christmas present for me in 1985. The truly shameful thing is that it has sat unread on my shelves for over four decades. Well, my father’s no longer around and I ought still to apologize to him but at last I’m going to read it. For goodness sake, it’s a shorter time to the #comet's next appearance than the last time!

  4. The golden record of Voyager: a message to extraterrestrial creatures in deep space. From Beethoven to Indonesian gamelan, this record represents the richness of all cultures on Earth, our longing to be one, and to reach for the stars to meet and learn from other civilisations out there. open.spotify.com/playlist/753z #CarlSagan #CarlSaganDay #AnnDruyan #palebluedot #voyager #voyager1 #voyager2 #cosmos #extraterrestrial
