It's surreal listening to music I ripped from a CD in the late 90s / early 00s, streaming from a computer in my basement to a computer in my pocket.

After this song got stuck in my head yesterday when I saw someone playing piano in public (they played another anime theme song, can't remember which), I'll try to learn this finally...
Sailor Moon R - Moon Revenge (by ear, cause my notation skills are awful). Hopefully the performance will get better with training :>

Just saw some liner notes from this album – fantastic little museum, but vinyl only? Bummer.
Boutique labels do amazing work on releases like this, but licensing for digital distribution is a minefield and you won't get customer loyalty and Instagram popularity from a CD release like with vinyl. Too bad for me.

Hey folks! I’ve been radio silent the past few weeks for starting a brew job and vacation! However 3, 2, 1… Let’s Jam round two! #vinylalphabet with the Cowboy Bebop Netflix Series by Yoko Kano and The Seatbelts. I couldn’t pass up new recordings of these songs. So good! #animesoundtrack #anime #vinylrecords

3, 2, 1… Let’s Jam! #vinylalphabet with the Cowboy Bebop anime soundtrack by Yoko Kano and The Seatbelts. A change of pace sound wise but still space opera in nature! One of my favorite anime shows! #animesoundtrack #anime #vinylrecords

Neat parallel from the Genjitsu no Yohane soundtrack to Love Live Sunshine:
One of the main melodies repeated throughout the soundtrack is the melody from Kono Sekai Wa Uta De Aru; it's used for a lot of emotional and hopeful scenes. I kept thinking while watching GnY that I was hearing the melody from Let's Make A Miracle/Kiseki Hikaru from the Sunshine OST, which is used for emotional and hopeful scenes in Sunshine. And it turns out yeah, they're very similar. A nice callback to Sunshine that gives the GnY OST a nostalgic vibe during emotional moments. Tatsuya Kato did such a good job on both the soundtracks. :akko_excited:

Genjitsu no Yohane OST CD came in today! (Among many other things :blobfoxlaughsweat: .) It really is beautiful.
One neat thing I'm already appreciating is the recurring melody from この世界は歌である ("This world is a song"), one of the main musical themes from the series. Two other notable places where it pops up: 故郷ヌマヅ ("Hometown Numazu") and ヨハネのまほう ("Yohane's magic"). Makes me think of one of the taglines of the series: "うたとまほうときずなのものがたり", "A story of song, magic, and bonds"; it's cool to see this theme woven into the OST.

A friend was talking last night about what our boss themes are and, though I can't pick just 1, this particular track popped into mind as a definite candidate:
:pink_moon_and_stars: Cyber Slum by Kajiura Yuki (.hack//sign OST)
The initial melody, the bloody gorgeous harmony line in the repeat portion, and then one of the few violin solos I truly like. As terrible as I am with names, this is one of those tracks that I'll never confuse with anything else :espeon_love:

Last year, I fell head-over-heels for the anime Princess Principal :zerotwo_blush: It's a yuri spy anime set in a steampunk world that focuses heavily on character-driven narratives, even when it's in the context of larger events (yes, there's a princess involved).
It's an anime original which, for those that know my media habits, might be a bit surprising (I tend to read manga 90% of the time over watching the anime if possible). So how did I come across it and why did I watch it :neko_question:
:espeon_love: Kajiura Yuki (梶浦由記) :bear_love: my favourite composer (I'm sorry, Bach). She holds live performances of her various soundtrack compositions every year or two and one of those performances featured the Princess Principal soundtrack :dracthyr_yay: (/backstory)
Anyway, here's the live performance of Espionage Trap from the Princess Principal OST :cat_wow:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-xJVMIpC8op.s. You can see Kajiura Yuki on the piano :bugcat_hearts: (and she has a gorgeous voice, though she usually lets the singers she brings in do most of the singing)

Woot! Another recording drop :cat_wow::zerotwo_dance: :rainbow_dance:
(Itsumo Nando Demo (Always With me) from Spirited Away arranged for 2 violins)I had to bring it a 5th up compared to the solo arrangement I normally play to make it so that there's space under the 1st violin part for the 2nd part to actually move :bugcat_dance: but it still feels like the same gorgeous piece I play at least a few times a week :espeon_love:
Thinking back, this was the first audio CD that I owned. After seeing it in theatres with a childhood friend when it first aired in Japan, he got me the CD of it and it's a piece and memory that I cherish :blobhaj_love:
It seems it's also left quite the impression on the bride because she was the one that suggested this piece for the processional. I can't wait to play it on the day of (which is fast approaching)
Do any of you have memories tied to this piece, or Spirited Away in general?

:boosts_appreciated: :shiba_hello: Hiii, it's time to actually start to post my own art again. In lieu of recordings from my most recent performance (I'm working on processing them), here's the piece I'm most well-known for. :zerotwo_cheeky: The original video broke 20k views recently, buuut that's not really me anymore, so here's the updated one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IRb707R01w
Do you all have any fond memories of this piece, or perhaps Howl's Moving Castle in general? :eevee_joy:

This one is called “Lacrimosa”

I made a bit of a post about the Witch Hunter Robin OST last night (this morning?), but here's a proper one.
This is 'Robin', the first track in the anime itself and the theme to which Robin is introduced to the watcher. (1/3)

Me, listening to music: "I should share this with everyone with a little blurb about why it's awesome!"
Me, later that day: "Why the hell is it 04:00 already!? I can't wake up at a decent hour even if I fall asleep this instant orz"
Yeeeah, I didn't share the thing...
...but if you have to listen, 'Flame' and 'Robin' from the Witch Hunter Robin OST rock (and so does the rest of the soundtrack).
