  13. Under specific conditions,😡aggression may be important for finding food, etc. Selection may thus favor😡& counteract the complete loss of😡in this 🐜ant. However, 😡 is unlikely the baseline in this species. Work in prep, stay tuned 🥳. @Mol_Ecol @uniinnsbruck #AnimBehav2023 6/6

  22. Around this population-level stability individual dolphins were very variable in their responses. This variation could boost population resilience, hints at genetic variation in plasticity that could respond to selection, & should be included in future models #AnimBehav2023

  23. However, at the population level other social traits did not respond to salmon abundance, & social traits were not affected by climate & did not respond to either climate or food availability at the yearly scale. Dolphin social networks are pretty stable! #AnimBehav2023

  24. Dolphins are better connected to their local social environment in months of more salmon but did not change their overall gregariousness. Denser local networks could help access salmon or may be for another reason but facilitated by weaker food competition #AnimBehav2023

  25. We used a 30-year dataset on bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) to build monthly & yearly social networks based on co-occurring in the same pod & tested whether these networks varied with climate or salmon abundance #AnimBehav2023

  26. We often assume all individuals respond in the same way, however they may instead show variation in plasticity, which makes it much harder to predict population-level responses to environmental change #AnimBehav2023
