Free-ranging herds are currently found in Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Latvia, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Germany with reintroduction programs in Denmark, France, Portugal, Spain, Czechia and many other countries

Vanzolini's bald-faced saki is a monkey whose range is in western Brazil. The species was originally described based on individuals collected in 1936 + was only raised to full species status in 2014. For many years, there had been no record of the species in nature after specimens were collected in 1956 - until they were rediscovered in the wild in 2017. After more than 60 years 21 sightings of 12 groups, with 2-5 individuals per group, and a total of 34 individuals, were made. Sadly the hunting of sakis by locals is still a threat to their survival.
