W najbliższą niedzielę w Gdańskim Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej odbędzie się spotkanie wokół książki "Podstawowe pojęcia studiów nad zwierzętami" - publikacji, która pomaga lepiej zrozumieć nasze relacje ze zwierzętami i spojrzeć krytycznie na to, jak traktujemy inne czujące istoty.
Książka (wydana w ubiegłym roku przez Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego) zawiera artykuły poświęcone m.in. podmiotowości zwierząt, ich doświadczeniu, reprezentacji, ciału i krzywdzie.

Animal studies to interdyscyplinarna dziedzina nauki obejmująca humanistyczny namysł nad statusem i sytuacją osób zwierzęcych. Łączy zagadnienia z zakresu językoznawstwa, prawa, filozofii i socjologii. Na jej gruncie rozważana jest kwestia języka, jakim posługujemy się mówiąc o osobach zwierzęcych, ich status prawny oraz myślowe schematy, które przekładają się na stosunek ludzi do innych istot. Animal studies stanowi wartościowe narzędzie w codziennym działaniu zmierzającym do poprawy dobrostanu zwierząt.
To już trzecie spotkanie dyskusyjne, podczas którego skupimy się na kwestii języka, jakiego używamy, mówiąc o zwierzętach. Zastanowimy się nad jego rolą w kształtowaniu schematów myślowych oraz nad sposobem, w jaki wpływa nie tylko na nasze codzienne relacje ze zwierzętami, ale także na definiujące je prawo.Serdecznie zapraszamy!

Psychedelic Compounds Show Promise in Early Depression Research
Early research in May 2025 shows a Colorado River frog toxin may help depression and anxiety in mice without psychedelic effects. Psilocybin trials also show good results.

She knew where to jump from the counter on a loose board so that I would feel it (I am #deaf). That board can also be considered a #tool.
