A New Basis for Animal Ethics: Telos and Common Sense by Bernard E. Rollin, 2016
This book, the culmination of forty years of theorizing about the moral status of animals, explicates and justifies society’s moral obligation to animals in terms of the commonsense metaphysics and ethics of Aristotle’s concept of telos. Rollin uses this concept to assert that humans have a responsibility to treat animals ethically.

We’re almost there: Together with two colleagues, I’ve spent the last few weeks completing the final round of revisions for our book on the philosophy of animal research.
The project combines critical and reflexive approaches from the philosophy and history of science with ethical questions. Rather than treating animal research merely as a problem that must be evaluated ethically, the book explores how scientific practices, histories, epistemic assumptions, and ethical relationships are intertwined.
The manuscript is almost finished. One final round of reading, discussing, rewriting—and, of course, drinking coffee and having a very delicious apple cake (no longer visible).

Autor argumentuje, że promowanie weganizmu powinno opierać się przede wszystkim na argumentach etycznych. Wykorzystywanie argumentów zdrowotnych do promowania weganizmu rodzi szereg problemów, między innymi osłabia argumentację etyczną poprzez ujmowanie ochrony zwierząt jako środka służącego poprawie dobrostanu człowieka.

Sztuczna inteligencja może radykalnie wpłynąć na życie zwierząt — zarówno na lepsze, jak i na gorsze. Pytanie brzmi: czy zareagujemy dopiero po fakcie, czy zapobiegniemy katastrofie?
