52 years ago tomorrow, Albert Woodfox (and Herman Wallace, also of the #Angola3) was locked down in solitary confinement where he spent the next 43 years, the longest held political prisoner in U.S. history.
It's only peripherally related to my stream but I take any opportunity to bring it up.

#AlbertWoodfox was released on this day, his birthday, in 2016 after the longest incarceration in #solitaryConfinement of any political prisoner in American history, over 43 years. His book SOLITARY is a must-read and appropriate for standing with #Assange through #dayX.

Albert Woodfox was born #OTD in 1947. While jailed in NYC, he was introduced to the Black Panthers. After he was moved to the notorious Angola Prison, he joined up with other Black Panthers to fight for prisoners’ rights and education. The state responded with 43 years of solitary confinement, but he heroically remained unbroken and was freed during the last years of his life.
