I have created this very simple yet detailed Waydroid guide that should be relevant for all Linux distros.

Enjoy running Android apps & games on Linux with hardware acceleration.
And yes, ARM apps/games work just fine!!

Supposedly #RedHat has decided to depreciate #VirtManager in favor of #Cockpit. Cockpit will likely get Red Hat’s money instead of Virt-Manager, although development of Virt-Manager will still continue—likely independently. Cockpit seems modern and nice, but apparently requires hosts and guests to use #Systemd, which would rule out my usage of virtualizing OSes like #Androidx86, I believe. I guess I could use #VirtualBox for those OSes in given no other option.

    My refined my plan:

I’ll use #Fedora as my base OS—it is leading edge, & fresh enough. Then, I’ll use #Ubuntu and #AndroidX86 on #KVM & #QEMU (with PCI passthrough) for touch apps & programs that Fedora doesn’t have. Running a type-1 #BareMetal #hypervisor should get me up to near-native speeds. Finally, I’ll use #WINE #Flatpaks #Snaps and #Appimages for everything else. I’ll only install the absolute essentials on Fedora—not #immutable but probably dependable.

  20. Waiting for somebody to install some form of Android on the #SteamDeck (#Waydroid, #Anbox, #AndroidX86, even #Bluestacks) to test how well does it run Android exclusives

  26. The developers of Android Taskbar actually merged their tool with the Lawnchair launcher! The perfect setup for an #Android laptop, I can't wait to see it formally integrated in #androidx86. github.com/farmerbb/libtaskbar

  27. @Wolf480pl is it any weirder than wanting to run GNU/Linux on a mobile device (eg #Librem5)? For me, #Androidx86 is a way of turning an old 32-bit netbook into a hybrid tablet with a proper keyboard (no touchscreen, but meh). #Android boots a lot faster than GNU/Linux OS, and is optimized to use a minimum of battery power, plus it gives me access to a range of native apps that aren't available on GNU/Linux, or no longer run on 32-bit systems (eg #Wire).

  28. Android x86 project: call to help.

An open source project aiming to port the Android system to run on regular PC-desktop / x86 processors

Access the full source code or download the images for free.

The project is depending on donations to sustain itself, but sadly, donations are small.

Donating devices for them would be helpful!

Spare time? Contact the team directly.

Donate: PayPal, Bitcoin or banking transaction.
