#AndreCare is what you get when #AppleCare runs out, or if you don't want to pony up for the high fees associated with the latter. I was Andre's appointed rep for this repair.
I am most grateful to @iFixit for their fine tutorials and tools as well as for being one of the few sources for trustworthy consumer-oriented replacement batteries which perform according to spec.

Time it took me for this repair: 5hrs 10mins not including several deep reviews of the detail of various steps of the repair tutorial and minor issues which occurred during the repair, overnight curing and testing procedures as well as documentation of the repair and issues encountered.

I reconnected the battery and screen connectors, closed and rescrewed the cover for the connectors and retested the iPad before removing the protective covers over the adhesive strips. Then I placed several heavy books over the iPad and left it in a room with the door shut and the small heater running at its lowest setting assuring a solid 20℃ overnight. T+60 mins.

I tested the new battery before applying new adhesives to fix it in place.
I rechecked for remaining adhesive and applied new adhesive strips along the perimeter of the screen.

My supervisor for this repair was extremely helpful and supportive providing entertainment and stress relief at various intervals. She was however banned from the closed room where most steps in this procedure were conducted except adhesive removal and she had the good sense to stay clear of the noxious fumes from the adhesive remover.
There were occasional scratches at the door during the repair. "What's happening in there, I really want to come in and check it out."

I removed the battery by taking out the adhesive strips behind it. The iPad was still warm so the adhesive strips pulled out like butter with a most satisfying sound. I even was able to pull the third one out one handed and record the removal with the other hand. Prior experience is that this can be a frustrating experience if the aluminum chassis of the iPad is still too cold. T+20mins.

The next step is to remove the adhesive remnants. This is a time consuming process in my experience. I used various manual techniques and a toxic adhesive remover this time.
Last time I used a less toxic adhesive remover, but it wasn't available to me for this repair and I decided it would be good to try the adhesive remover that is purpose built. Next time, I'll remember to carry my non toxic substitute. T+120min.

During this trip to the US, I was asked to replace the battery on a family member's iPad. This thread documents that repair.
@iFixit estimated 1-2 hours to complete the repair. Based on previous experience, I estimated it would take someone like me about 8 hours. Check out the end of this thread to see how I did!
The ALT text of each of the photographs in this thread explains the procedure with which the photos are related including time taken for each step.
