Fur Rondy and Iditarod insanity has overcome me this last week. A couple of young people from the Kenai Peninsula are running this year, but I am particularly interested in a friend's son who is a rookie this year. #Iditarod2026 #25 #CeremonialStartIditarod #FurRondy2026 #AnchorageAlaska

The unfurling of the largest Ukrainian flag I am aware of in the world! This happened in Delaney Park in #AnchorageAlaska yesterday. It's 65 feet wide, 165 feet long and it took hundreds of people to hold it and unfurl it. #Magnificent #Alaska #UkrainianFlag

In 1949, Thayer, Nebraska, native Steve Henson moved with his wife to #AnchorageAlaska where he worked as a plumbing contractor for three years in the remote Alaskan bush. To keep his work crews happy, he invented a new salad dressing made with buttermilk. Henson has a very successful plumbing business & retired at 35. He moved his family to CA and eventually bought Sweetwater Ranch in San Marcos Pass in 1956 and renamed it Hidden Valley Ranch.
