  2. Fur Rondy and Iditarod insanity has overcome me this last week. A couple of young people from the Kenai Peninsula are running this year, but I am particularly interested in a friend's son who is a rookie this year. #Iditarod2026 #25 #CeremonialStartIditarod #FurRondy2026 #AnchorageAlaska

  3. I enjoyed the half-time show. Bad Bunny is a handsome young man. Lovely to see Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, too. I have to brag a tiny bit because an Alaskan is playing for the #Seahawks today. He is a lineman from #AnchorageAlaska #GoSeahawks alaskasnewssource.com/2026/01/

  4. The unfurling of the largest Ukrainian flag I am aware of in the world! This happened in Delaney Park in #AnchorageAlaska yesterday. It's 65 feet wide, 165 feet long and it took hundreds of people to hold it and unfurl it. #Magnificent #Alaska #UkrainianFlag

  5. I'm currently in the middle of trying to catch several feral cats/kittens that are living under a connex across the street from my house. That being said, here are a few pictures of the "super moon" over Anchorage taken by Michelle Hanson. #Alaska #AnchorageAlaska #SuperMoon2024

  6. The white raven holds special meaning for Alaska Native people, according to Rosita Worl, a Tlingit anthropologist and president of the Sealaska Heritage Institute.

“There is definite excitement in the Native community throughout Alaska in seeing White Raven, reconfirming for Native Peoples Raven’s trickster nature and his transformation capabilities,” Worl said in an email.

Oral tradition holds that Raven was white to begin with, “but through his antics he was transformed into a Black Raven,” Worl said.

“Seeing White Raven today confirms both his trickster and culture hero nature, bringing benefits to the human world — including laughter and humor.” Photos by Marc Lester of the Anchorage Daily News #WhiteRaven #CelebrityStatus #AnchorageAlaska

In 1949, Thayer, Nebraska, native Steve Henson moved with his wife to #AnchorageAlaska where he worked as a plumbing contractor for three years in the remote Alaskan bush. To keep his work crews happy, he invented a new salad dressing made with buttermilk. Henson has a very successful plumbing business & retired at 35. He moved his family to CA and eventually bought Sweetwater Ranch in San Marcos Pass in 1956 and renamed it Hidden Valley Ranch.
