and while there is \#android-x86 channel on libera.chat, it has only 10 people in it.Are there better ways of running #Android on PC, either on some host OS or bare-metal?

Es gibt einen Desktop-Modus, der für Tablets mE sinnvoll ist und auch Darkmodus habe ich inzwischen gefunden...
Und ich habe schon ein bisschen was installiert auf dem #UbuntuTouch -Tablet u.a. Abiword, Cinny (Matrix-Client), ConverseJS (xmpp-Client), Dekko 2 (Mail-Client, Invidious (Web-App), Wire-Messenger (Web-App), uMastonauts, Friendica (Web-App)
#Anbox gibt es leider für das Gerät nicht. Welche Linux-Apps über #Libertine sowohl installiert werden können, als auch sinnvoll zu nutzen sind, muss im einzelnen ausprobiert werden. Bspw. Abiword läuft ganz gut. Gajim lief auch, war aber schelcht zu skalieren. Ein paar Erfahrungsberichte und Listen habe ich in Foren gefunden, u.a. hier: forums.ubports.com/post/62789
Vielleicht kann jemand noch eigene Erfahrungen beitragen?

@defcon42 so einfach nicht. Für ein paar Geräte gibt es #Anbox (zB für das Nexus 5), habe ich aber noch nicht ausgetestet.

Die App-Auswahl im Open-Store ist sicher noch nicht für alle Anwendungszwecke ausreichend
Außerdem gibt es noch #Libertine
Libertine ermöglicht die Nutzung von Standard-Desktop-Anwendungen in Ubuntu Touch.

There are already several #immutable linux #distros available. Run any of the following on top: #flatpaks, #appimages #snaps, Compatibility layers like #WINE or #Anbox, #virtualized OSes, tools like #distrobox, #emulators, etc, & never worry about system stability again—pieces of the next generation linux puzzle!
I was already excited by the concept of #distroagnostic packaging uniting the linux realm, but the ideas of an #ImmutableOS completes the picture!

Guten Morgen Fediverse. #anbox ist eine Möglichkei, Android Apps lokal unter #linux zu nutzen, ohne gleich einen vollständgen Emulator starten zu müssen. Die Android apps arbeiten brav mit dem lokalen Linux zusammen und es lässt sich zB die Zwischenablage nutzen. So kann man etwa auch am Laptop einen toot verfassen und ihn mit #tusky als geplanten toot senden, so wie ich gerade ;)

Da man irgendwie immer noch keine toots am Computer planen kann, hab ich mir eben @Tusky auf meinem Laptop installiert 🤷♂️

Este fin de semana encontré #Anbox que permite ejecutar aplicaciones de Android en GNU/Linux. En mi caso tuve que usar WhatsApp, pero no quería compartir mis contactos, ni tenerlo en mi teléfono. Con Anbox lo pude hacer de una forma muy sencilla.

Mit #ubuntutouch bin ich gerade noch am Anfang es auszuprobieren. Die App-Auswahl im #openstore ist teilweise wirklich ziemlich dünn. Bspw. habe ich keinen funktionierenden #xmpp -Client gefunden.
Zu weitergehenden Versuchen wie #anbox bin ich noch nicht gekommen.

Hat denn jemand von Euch Erfahrung mit #anbox ?
Würde damit auch ggf. #conversations (zumindest mit den Grundfunktionen) im Container laufen? Nach Sichtung dieser Anleitung habe ich mich aber bisher noch nicht daran gewagt...
