I do prefer classic paper books...

I've yet to find any "eBook Reader" that isn't a huge downgrade in haptics and ergonomy, not to mention all these restrictions.

A book I can just open up and read anytime. No need for batteries!

Being #unavailable gives your mind time to "breathe", go at its own pace, uninterrupted, and to chew on your ideas and whatever kind of creativity inspires you.

We didn't know it at the time, but my gen was creatively blessed to be able to be analog "bored" because, barring a landline, we were literally offline & there was no way to notify us that someone was trying to reach us for something. Not everything is mission critical.

Make sure your devices are dumb enough & your mind is made up enough to be more unavailable. They called my gen "feral" , but we were actually "free". Rediscovering Handwriting

In East Asia, some countries, including Japan, still use Chinese characters.

When we type all the time, we start forgetting how to write them by hand.

That happened to me in my thirties.

So I decided to bring handwriting back into my life.

Keeping a handwritten journal.
The neatness or messiness of each character I write shows my state of mind.

Writing by hand connects me to my thoughts in a quiet, human way.

On Wednesday my glass fiber modem died (only half a year old, thanks Nokia), so I've been enjoying an analog lifestyle since then (well, apart from my phone).

No music, no TV (though we did watch a movie on my kids DVD player over composite video), no laptop or desktop PC, not even much of a smart home.

I must say I rather liked it. Haven't read so much in a long time.

Still, I won't be sad when the new modem is delivered, hopefully, this afternoon. I'll try to keep up the reading though.
