Last night I watched a great analog horror series on YouTube that has really stuck with me. It deals with themes of lost cultural memories, liminal spaces, urban exploration, and the haunting passage of time. It makes masterful use of pervasive tension, and has the best ever jump scares where nothing actually jumps (except me), with imagery that followed me into my dreams. Best of all, it has a really cool meta-backstory (see Wendigoon's analysis) which is keeping alive some meaningful history out of Texas. It ends with a meditative, thought-provoking urbex video that brings it all back around to the reality of loss.
Overall, this series captures the zeitgeist of a decaying empire, of a time where living generations are realizing that nothing lasts and we've begun looking back to wonder what any of it meant.
It's by Kane Pixels (creator of the definitive Backrooms series), probably one of the most underrated horror creators of this time, because he publishes his work on YouTube. The entire series is about an hour and a half long.
Pouring one out for the rolling giant. Stay creepy as hell, my man.

I have an idea for an #AnalogHorror youtube series. Well, I have the core of an idea, I just don't know where it would go or what you would do with it after the start.
Overnight, all over the planet, these black crystals obelisks appear. Sometimes a bunch of smaller ones in a cluster, other times a big one. Randomly placed, not discernible pattern. And "placed" is a stretch, since it seems like they just erupt out of the ground, going through whatever's in the way - concrete, roads, buildings, gas and water lines, etc.
They're irregularly shaped, like naturally grown crystals, so not manufactured or artificial. They are also indestructible and immovable, as far as people can tell, but getting info on them is... a little difficult, as you will see.

I have an idea for an #analoghorror series now.
It's bubbling in my head, as I realized watching the the squirrel video that it has the found footage vibe going, and felt like an intro to something insane.
I have gotten quite good at making my #videos look like they're on film or VHS.
I was thinking of making a series where it gets progressively more disturbing, and less funny as it goes on.
I have some ideas.
