CW: EroticMusings Week 8: Studio (reading erotica, long)
Do you consume much erotica?
Yes, fairly regularly. It's a significant portion of what I'm reading at any given moment.
Is it similar to your work?
In some ways. Particularly in the fact that I'm writing stories with character development and plot.
Share your favourite works or creators!
Sure. Counting just the ones I can get at easily ... Paul Lucas, Cornelia Quick, Victoria Rush, Winter Lynx, and Ellie Wylde.
All of those are Smashwords links and most have titles discounted for the #Smashwords #SWSale2025 through July 31. @plucas1 and @corneliaquick are both on Mastodon. Paul has some stories under his name that aren't erotica.

CW: EroticMusings Week 5 - Culture
Culture: How does your work explore, challenge, and/or exploit gender stereotypes?
It's difficult for me to answer this because I don't really set out to do any of those things. I think they tend to happen incidentally because of who I am.
The Taking Command series challenges them in part by having different gender conceptions in the species that inhabit the Tikud Empire (and its surrounds). Don't Get Seduced By A Fairy! may theoretically challenge them in that Effluvia is the main instigator and Mike ends up being the primary caregiver to their child(ren). The things Beware Of Fangs! is exploring don't relate particularly to gender stereotypes but rather things I think we can all resonate with ... that happen to be happening in a fantastical setting.

CW: EroticMusings Week 4 - Characters
Characters: Is your MC the kind of person you'd want a relationship with?
Oddly enough, I've dated people like both Nicole and Paige. I don't think I would today. (To be clear, I didn't develop them based on exes. When I saw the question, I realized they had personality similarities to people I have dated in the past. Except in limited cases involving satire of public figures, I don't base characters on real people.)
How would they feel about you?
I don't think either of them would give me a second look. :blobcatgiggle: Which is fine. I generally date people older than I am. I'll go a bit younger than I am today but not 20+ years younger. Not a value judgement. If it's not dating someone who 'just turned eighteen', the age gap by itself is mainly an issue when combined with extremely uneven power dynamics.

CW: EroticMusings Week 3 - Studio
Is your work in erotica integrated with your day-to-day life and work, or somewhat separate?
My roommate, my friends, and some of my former colleagues know I write smut. I've been releatively open about that with those folks. My family don't know but some of them could probably guess. Since I'm ... self-employed and what little money coming in is coming from publishing erotica / erotic romance, I'd say it's currently fully integrated. :blobcatgiggle:

CW: EroticMusings Week 2 - Craft
Craft: Do you intentionally experiment with new techniques?
Yep. I'm experimenting with a less neutral 3rd person narrator in Beware Of Fangs!.
Share an example! (If you want to.)
From the first two paragraphs of Beware of Fangs! as it currently exists:
One Friday night a year ago in a town called Morrow, Nicole @@nLast@@ sat in a restaurant waiting for Luke to return from the restroom. She felt a tension in the air but couldn't figure out what was causing it. The restaurant was called @@restaurantName@@ and it had a bar that could get pretty lively on weekends especially but it was quiet that night.
Out of towners would have considered Morrow a part of Silvestris. Silvestris was a medium sized city but it was the largest city in the area. Morrow was a little town nestled near the oldest parts of Silvestris. Those who lived in Silvestris or Morrow could tell would say the places weren't the same though the lines were blurred sometimes.
Enjoy the placeholder text. :blobcatgiggle:
