TisDass (Niger)
OCCII, Saturday, October 3 at 09:00 PM GMT+2
TisDass – rock touareg from Niger
TisDass, hailing from Niger, is set for another European tour in 2026. Following the military putsch in August 2023, which led to the cancellation of a significant portion of their tour, the band successfully returned to European stages in 2025 with 32 dates across 9 countries.
Tisdass is led by singer-guitarist Moussa Kildjate Albadé, and is based in Niamey with roots in Tchintabaraden, a town emblematic of the Tamasheq kel of Niger. “TisDass” means ‘Pillars‘ in Tamasheq, a reference to the pillars of traditional Berber tents. This name signifies the group’s deep connection to their culture, which they aim to defend and promote through their powerful music.
Houmaïssa, released by Bolingo Art/Rebel Up (Inouïe Distribution), is named after a Tuareg symbol exclusively worn by women. With this album, TisDass pays homage to women, who are considered the pillars of the family in Tuareg society. While the album features a quicker tempo, the acoustic tracks “Tara” (Love) and “Itag Aguen” (Many things are happening) maintain the distinctive sound of Sahelian music. The remaining tracks showcase the rock direction the band has embraced on stage. The songs’ themes consistently reflect the Tuareg people’s desire and hope for peace, as heard in “Taflist” (Trust), “Derhan” (Hope), and “Ikewagne” (Root).
The inspiration for a third album arose when the current line-up toured to support Amanar (Bolingo Art), recorded in 2019 and released in 2021 (Inouïe Distribution). Since then, TisDass‘ music has evolved into a decidedly rock sound with more danceable tracks, thanks to the contributions of rhythm guitarist Mouhamed Khamed Assalerh, the faster drumming of young Issoufou Dan Nana Ichaya, and the enhanced groove from experienced bassist Bouba Hamidine Souleymane. The ever-present backing vocals and claps further enrich their sound.

STEPMOTHER (Lukas Simonis, Jeroen Visser, Bill Gilonis/Dirk Bruinsma, Tisa Neža Herlec & Philipp Ernsting) + More TBC
OCCII, Friday, October 16 at 08:30 PM GMT+2
STEPMOTHER is Lukas Simonis (Dull Schicksal, Bazip Zeehok, Coolhaven ...), Jeroen Visser (Kazanchis, morFrom ...), Bill Gilonis (The Work, The Hat Shoes, Hail ...), since this second record -only 10 years after the first- also including Tisa Neža Herlec aka Tisa World (multidisciplinarian) and Philipp Ernsting (ao. Albatre). The live version lacks Gilonis but Dirk Bruinsma (ao. Blast, Pumporgan) replaces him on bass.
About STEPMOTHER and their ‘new’ album; “Bring me flowers and tell me you love me ̈ ...
It took slightly long before this second album was finished, maybe due to the fact that the band members live in different countries, but although some material was written not long after the first album was finished, it lacked something that wasn’t necessary when that first album was made; a good singer. So in comes Tisa World and within a very short time the album was finally finished. What can we expect that is different from the first album? Then it was “...Anglo-American-Dutch post-punk prog rock and experimental soundscapes with a dash of Bonzo Dog Band thrown in...” -totally untrue-
What more could you ask for? The journey we are taking this time is as eclectic as before, musically with nifty electronics, spooky horn sections, noisy guitars, great drumming by
Ernsting and on top of that, Tisa World’s evince voice that is able to go forward in all directions without losing it’s authenticity, lyrically we go from succulent plants to more great trading days that are great, goblin markets and drunken gamblers. Can we say this? Yes we can this: he record is much more than a sum of its parts – and again it’s beautifully packed to boot, with artwork by Alfred Boland.https://stepmother-newrelease.bandcamp.com/album/bring-me-flowers-and-tell-me-you-love-me

Venus Tropicaux – Lagrimas
Venus Tropicaux is a no wave band from Rotterdam. The band makes raw, idiosyncratic punk with a strong DIY mentality and a love for short, explosive sets. Ten years after releasing their first and only EP Lycra Pants, Venus Tropicaux will release their debut album independently in 2027.My Purse

Saba Alizadeh & Farzané (NL/IRN) + Vehicle/Passenger (US/CW/DE)
OCCII, Friday, October 23 at 08:30 PM GMT+2
Saba Alizadeh
Architect of Power Ambient
Saba Alizadeh occupies a singular space in contemporary music ,a sonic language so distinct it seems to exist outside comparison.
Coming from a distinguished musical lineage and shaped by more than two decades as a composer, producer, and performer, he has developed an artistic voice that merges deep cultural memory with fearless sonic experimentation.
Across four critically acclaimed albums, he has continuously expanded the boundaries between contemporary composition, electronic music, and Persian sonic heritage.
Having lived through defining social and political ruptures – from witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall as a child to experiencing the Green Movement and the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran – his work carries the emotional residue of history not as commentary, but as lived memory transformed into sound.
Emerging from Tehran’s underground electronic scene, Alizadeh forged a deeply personal language where Persian classical music, experimental electronics, archival recordings, and cinematic tension dissolve into what critics have called “Power Ambient.”
At the center of his performances stands the Kamancheh: the ancient Persian bowed instrument whose raw, human cry he reshapes through live processing and sonic experimentation into something both ancestral and radically contemporary.
His live sets unfold like fragments of forgotten cinema – dense, haunting, and physical. Continuously reimagining how history, memory, and resistance can breathe through modern sound.
”A bridge between the ancient and the contemporary” — The Wire
”A fresh, compelling soundscape” — Pitchfork
”Hope as an act of resistance” — Frankfurter Rundschau
”Music that feels like a cinematic unfolding of history” — Chain D.L.K.
”The stringed Kamancheh is a living soul and primal voice” — Veil of Sound

Farzané
(Farzaneh Nouri), an Iranian sound artist, creative coder, and researcher based in the Netherlands, works at the intersection of experimental music and computer science. Her ongoing practice-based research focuses on embodied knowledge in improvisational settings with machines. Embracing AI’s fundamental otherness while establishing relational connections, her practice aims at creating conditions of genuine encounter and collaborative destabilization between the artist and the machine. This speculative approach moves beyond technological determinism and cultural essentialism, exploring how human and machine intelligences might co-evolve through creative tension and collaborative aesthetic discovery.
Farzané at Audiomanzia<a href="https://farzane.bandcamp.com/track/chiasma">CHIASMA by Farzané</a>
VEHICLE/PASSENGER
Ethereal yet full of raw power. A tour-de-force of artistic expression combined with an urgent message on the state of our world.
In VEHICLE/PASSENGER we gather around thoughtful, radical poetry, as it weaves through energetically improvised pieces and delicate soundscapes. Exploring a queer perspective on body, society and improvisation. The trio reveals a unified, futuristic sound, repositioning the past, present and future of experimental music, free jazz, hip-hop, live electronics and poetry.
“An energy and urgency without simple slogans.” – WDR, Odilo Clausnitzer
“Vehicle/Passenger has created one of the most honest and unique recordings of 2024.” – All About Jazz, Maurice Hoge
The Ballad of a Never-ending Elevator Accident – VEHICLE/PASSENGER – Live in AmsterdamM Alberto (NL/AN) – poetry , saxophones and electronics
Lesley Mok (US) – drums and percussion
Florian Herzog (DE) – double bass and electronicsM. ALBERTO (they/them), is a Euro-Carribean improviser, award-winning poet and composer. Born in Curacao and currently based in the Netherlands. M.’s work is explicitly political, and always critical of colonial structures. They are one of the driving forces behind theatre collectives Boys won’t be Boys, as well as a steady collaborator in other critical productions. They have performed internationally on diverse stages and theatres from The Royal Concertgebouw and the Dutch National Opera to pop-festivalslike Sziget, Rock Werchter and Pinkpop.
FLORIAN HERZOG, bassist and composer, is a pioneer of the German and international jazz and avant-garde scenes whose bass playing has been described by the press as “emancipated, spirited and sensitive.”
He has worked with established greats like Theo Bleckmann, Jim Black and Nils Wogram, but also with the new generation and musicians like Anna Webber, Elias Stemeseder and Nick Dunston.
LESLEY MOK (they/them) is a percussionist and interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY, who works in sound, installation, film, and theater. Interested in the ways social conditions shape our beings, Lesley’s work focuses on overacting humanness to explore ideas about alienness and privilege. Their work draws from queer and feminist art practices, Chinese philosophy, Caribbean folkloric musical traditions, futurist perspectives, and ancestral knowledge. Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Living Collection’ was awarded with a prestigious Deutscher Jazz Preis in 2024.

HACKEDEPICIOTTO (DE) + GLICE
OCCII, Friday, November 20 at 08:30 PM GMT+1
Welcome back! HACKEDEPICIOTTO (Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto) + GLICE (Melle Kromhout & Ruben Braeken)
HACKEDEPICCIOTTO (DE)
Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) & Danielle De Picciotto (Love Parade, Crime & The City Solution)Both are legends within the underground of the music world. This will be the couple’s first visit to Amsterdam since the last one in 2022.
HACKEDEPICIOTTO are Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto. Both are legends of their own making: Danielle de Picciotto moved to Berlin in 1987, to become the lead singer of the band „Space Cowboys“, the co-initiator of the Love Parade, a collaborator of the Ocean Club with Gudrun Gut, and Alexander’s partner in crime. Alexander Hacke is founding member and bass player of Einstürzende Neubauten. The artist couple, romantically married in 2006, has creatively interacted with countless international projects for almost 2 decades now besides regularly releasing their own compositions.
Their live shows are, to put it mildly, intense. Danielle specializes in unusual instruments such as the Hurdy Gurdy, the auto harp and the cemence besides playing the violin and piano; Alexander is master of the bass, guitar and drums. Together they create beautiful, existentialistic, acoustic soundscapes, which roar and vibrate simultaneously leaving their audiences shaken but overjoyed.
Danielle, author of two books, writes most of their lyrics, be it the poetic spoken word moments or the momentous choirs they compose together. Alexander Hacke, an excellent throat singer and vocalist, growls his grnarly, rumbling cries that float eerily over their nomadic desert drones, with screeching birds, bees or wild wind accompanying slow, heavy riffs that start as a whisper and end in a volcanic, rolling wave of apocalyptic frenzy. The collage of this mixed with melancholic, translucent harmonies, very heavy & low bass chords, and electronics are a mesmerizing universe of sound and emotion which has generated an ever growing group of enthusiastic listeners.
https://hackedepicciotto.bandcamp.com/
Glice is an Amsterdam-based noise duo that has been producing uncompromising, layered electronics since 2015. Using analog equipment and a keen ear for detail, Ruben Braeken and Melle Kromhout craft a sound that moves between hushed musique concrète and industrial noise, between abstract sonic experiments and moments of fragile melody—sometimes dark and ominous, at other times deceptively meditative.
Following their critically acclaimed debut LIX (2015), Glice performed at festivals such as Rewire, Incubate and Unsound and released several cassette tapes. Braeken and Kromhout then travelled to Berlin to record the album CIELO (2017) with Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten)—a next step in their sonic evolution, where post-industrial textures meet melodic development. This direction continued on the monumental double album PYRE (2021), co-produced by Lasse Marhaug.
Exactly ten years after their debut, Glice returns in 2025 with ENVOI. Recorded during a series of concerts with Hackedepicciotto in 2022, this is the purest representation yet of their intense, disorienting live shows: four pieces that build tension layer by layer with distorted voices, piercing noise, rattling synths, fragments of melody, and deep drones.

SITP Festival | marc ribot x farida amadou x ches smith + run into the apocalypse + franks rosaly's ruidoscuro + jens bouttery solo + nufaro
Cinetol, Saturday, November 14 at 06:30 PM GMT+1
LINE UP
Marc Ribot x Farida Amadou x Ches Smith + Run Into The Apocalypse + Franks Rosaly’s Ruidoscuro + Jens Bouttery solo + Nufaro + numerous improv sessions
Marc Ribot x Farida Amadou x Ches Smith
Marc Ribot zegt…
Run Into The Apocalypse
SPACE IS THE PLACE

Zemma EP Release Show w/ L’orne & DJ Duo Grachtwater
OCCII, Friday, October 2 at 09:00 PM GMT+2
Zemma
ZEMMA is an Amsterdam-based vocalist and songwriter unapologetically passionate about heavy underground music. Merging influences from experimental rock, metal and beyond, she’s shaped her project into a four-piece band, where the music shifts seamlessly between vulnerability and powerful intensity — creating a raw, hard-hitting performance.
https://3voor12lokaal.vpro.nl/artikelen/videorelease-zemma
L’orne
L’orne evokes feelings of melancholy through their blend of doomy post-rock, bluespunk, psychedelic noise-rock and anything that flirts with the unpredictable and the unhinged. L’orne has won over audiences with plenty of drama and dynamics. Bringing them to silence with their surprising emotional compositions and captivating live performance.
In 2024, the band released their debut full-length album titled and I fell asleep forever, which included the song ‘Philia’ that won them the Best Track Award at the Rotterdam Music Awards 2024.
Now, the band is busy releasing their triptych of EP’s called ‘How are you, ragged old bunny?’ Of which the first two chapters are out now.

Liturgy (solo)
Cinetol, Tuesday, November 24 at 08:00 PM GMT+1
Hun vijfde studioalbum, een opera getiteld Origin of the Alimonies, verscheen in november 2020.

PARKHOF NIGHT w/ WANDA’S + THE BATTLE OF PARKHOF (BOOK) + IS THERE MORE THAN THE STREET (FILM) + GW SOK (q/a)
OCCII, Sunday, October 4 at 08:30 PM GMT+2
Parkhof night at OCCII:: a film, a book, a band film: Is er meer dan de straat (20 min.)
book: De slag om Parkhof (160 pag.)
band: Wanda’s (dr gtr gtr bs v)Parkhof was a famous, infamous squat venue annex youth-center in the city of Alkmaar. Since the late 70s, for more than 25 years, it was the place to be for kids of all ages and backgrounds, fans of DIY culture and punk music. Like an OCCII avant-la-lettre. And yes, we know, Parkhof has ceased to be, a sign of the times alas, but the ideas and ideals are still alive.
Coincidence or not, but all of a sudden snippets from a punky underground past find their way to the surface and are out in the open again. So yeah, here’s a helluva tripple bill for ya not like any other.
Like, the viewing of the short experimental lowbudget? nobudget! movie “Is er meer dan de straat” (Is there more than the street), made on a shoestring by four young students in 1981, a visual final-year thesis about DIY and/in Parkhof... a movie that recently, after 45 years, attracted the attention of the renowned Rijksmuseum, to become part of its collection.
Like, the book launch of the new book “De slag om Parkhof” (The battle of Parkhof) by Marleen Kamminga en Bamber Delver, which tells the his&herstory of this music space that was so much more than just a place to hang out. Interviews with the people who lived there, who worked there, who played there, who visited concerts there, plus photo’s and posters. And a plea for more free space where the youngsters of now can be/become who they want to be.
Like, the concert by the recently resurrected feminist punk/rock band the Wanda’s, who were part of the Parkhof story from the very beginning, they actually ran the place, one might say. The band lasted about ten years, did a lot of gigs nationwide, made two albums, disappeared into oblivion, and since a year or so they’re back... Angry Old Women, ready to set your hearing (aids) to the test, ’cause Punk is stil Not Deaf.
Come and join us, it’ll be fun.

IS THERE MORE THAN THE STREET
Four young, eager students at the social academy, in their final year, time for their graduation thesis, and not in the mood for it. Not for a stack of paper full of text that would end up in a filing cabinet that no one would ever look into again. What they DID want: to tell something about the do-it-yourself punk culture that was raging around them right there in 1980, ’81. Showing something about that, about how you can shape your own future yourself, well now, THAT did appeal to them. In short, they decided to make a film. They had no clue, really, never done it before, but they did it anyway. Themselves. Anyway, they just started, with borrowed equipment, and they stuck the theme “Do It Yourself” to the squatted youth center Parkhof in Alkmaar, where a group of female punks in particular ran the place. Plus something about making fanzines and releasing your own records. Through trial and error they discovered what worked and what didn’t, resulting in a film of no less than 20 minutes, on Super 8. The result was to be expected: primitive and (somewhat unintentionally) experimental, but also sincere and full of passion. And 45 years later, that little piece of captured 80s zeitgeist has turned out to be as urgent as fuck once again, having actually never really gone away.WANDA’S
Wanda’s plays classic punk in a contemporary form. Even more urgent than they did in the 1980s, because the time is more than ripe for a major punk revival. In the late 70s, six girlfriends, all active in the squatted punk venue Parkhof, decided to start a band together. An adventure that would last nine years, countless gigs, several line-up changes, and two LPs. Over the years, their sound transformed from experimental rattle punk to solid punk rock with a (feminist) message. About 35 years later, they looked each other up again, and the musical and personal connection had remained unchanged. And so, ever since, they have happily continued working on their hearing damage: Punks Not Deaf! From noisy teenagers to Angry Old Women, Wanda’s keep on keeping on rocking hard.https://wandas.bandcamp.com/
wandas.nlTHE BATTLE OF PARKHOF
A squatted school that grew into one of the most famous punk venues in the Netherlands. That is the story of Parkhof, the Alkmaar haven where generations of young people shaped their own culture between 1980 and 2009. In the new book “The Battle for Parkhof – How Punk Conquered Alkmaar” Marleen Kamminga and Bamber Delver bring this remarkable history back to life. Through dozens of personal stories, original photos, and posters, the authors tell how Parkhof grew into the beating heart of the regional punk scene. At a time when large music venues hardly existed, young people built their own stage and created a sanctuary where music, creativity, and the punk motto Do It Yourself took center stage. Kamminga and Delver, former Parkhof punks themselves, spoke with former visitors, residents, musicians, and youth workers. Together, their memories form a vivid picture of a place that was much more than a youth center for thousands of young people. At the same time, the book shows how themes such as housing shortages, identity, solidarity, and the search for a place of one’s own remain relevant today. According to the authors, the book is therefore not only a look back at a special period in Alkmaar’s history but also a plea for sanctuaries where young people can be themselves and develop their own culture. With “The Battle for Parkhof,” a unique chapter from recent history receives the recognition it deserves. -
BEAM SPLITTER – Audrey Chen & Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (US/NO) + MARIELLE GROVEN (CA) + GJ PRINS & LIDA BROUSKARI (NL/GR)

OCCII x Klankhaven – BEAM SPLITTER – Audrey Chen & Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (US/NO) + MARIELLE GROVEN (CA) + GJ PRINS & LIDA BROUSKARI (NL/GR)
BEAM SPLITTER – Audrey Chen & Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (US/NO, voice, electronics, trombone)
Using the trombone and voice, they manoeuvrer a balance between fragility, intimacy, the ecstatic and measured control. They share a common sense of pulse and an inherent understanding of the way they each aurally manage and let go of every consecutive moment. The lungs release through to mouths to bell, back and forth like a tactile breathing exchange. Since beginning their collaboration in 2015, Nørstebø and Chen have been extensively touring the globe; in Europe, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, and the USA.
Audrey Chen is a Chinese-American musician born outside of Chicago in 1976. She turned to the cello at age 8 and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music; now, using the voice and cello, Chen’s work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling.
Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (born 1986 in Trondheim, Norway) is a trombonist working mostly within contemporary fields of music. An ambiguous relationship with the trombone has led him to explore both the boisterous and brassy side of the instrument, as well as its counterpoint in microscopic and ‘electronic’ sound possibilities. Utilizing a wide spectrum of playing techniques, from pure long tones to noise and the almost inaudible, he often works balancing the intuitive with the precisely constructed.
MARIELLE GROVEN – Canadian multi-instrumentalist and composer Marielle Groven performs on violin, piano and pipe organ. Her composed music has been performed by leading ensembles at major festivals internationally. Her latest project for solo violin embraces her musical roots in Atlantic Canada and her background in experimental music. She lives in Amsterdam.
GJ PRINS & LIDA BROUSKARI – an electronic first date
Lida Brouskari is a Greek artist working with piano, synths, toys, voice, and text. She is an active part of the Amsterdam improvisation scene, leading her own band Nufaro, and collaborating with musicians such as Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti, Frank Rosaly, Ab Baars, Wilbert de Joode and Ben Lamar Gay. She has also collaborated with renowned artist Marguerite Humeau.

HALLOWS + Orus Boris + Grauzone DJ team | grauzone presents
Cinetol, Friday, September 25 at 08:00 PM GMT+2
HALLOWS
For fans of Desire, Pixel Grip en Nuovo Testamento.

ALARM! (SE) + HARD PASS (SE) + KRIME
OCCII, Friday, September 25 at 08:30 PM GMT+2
ALARM! (Stockholm, Sweden, w/ VICTIMS/OUTLAST members) + HARD PASS (Malmö, Sweden) + KRIME
ALARM! are a hardcore punk band from Stockholm, Sweden. After twenty-plus years of playing together in Victims, Andy, Jon and Gareth reunited in early 2023 with the ambition of making some new noise. Jon switched from guitar to bass and the trio wrote a bunch of songs. About a year later they were joined by Jon’s childhood friend, Henrik. This would be the first time the two had played together since their legendary hardcore band Outlast folded in the late 90’s.
Henrik’s vocals and Jon’s bass playing are the key ingredients in taking ALARM!’s sound away from these Swede’s well-known crust punk roots. The bass is both manic and melodic at the same time, pummelling the riffs behind the wall of guitar and drums. Henrik’s piercing vocals, raw yet steeped in emotion, scream of personal anguish and pissed off, political rage. ALARM! have endeavoured to evoke the classic Swedish sound whilst harking back to an ever-so-slight hint of melodic hardcore pre Y2K.

ALARM!: Unrelenting Swedish Hardcore intensity !
Born from the ashes of Victims and Outlast, Sweden’s ALARM! returns with Failure By Design. This isn’t just nostalgia—it’s pure, visceral, and socially conscious hardcore that hits like a freight train.
If you like your music raw and fuelled by political rage, this band is mandatory listening.

HARD PASS (MÄLMO SWEDEN)
Hard Pass – Distorted Eyes
New-ish band, veteran players that have paid their dues in such diverse bands as PYRAMIDO, SATANIC SURFERS, BURST, and ANCHOR. Since their debut Hardcore 2024, the Malmö band has been in constant forward movement. Distorted Eyes is their first full statement, or as the official line puts it, “ten tracks of unrelenting hardcore punk.” No exaggeration there. The opener “Lies” sets the picture of systems failing, truth being commodified, and everyone’s complicity in it. Lyrics read like headlines chewed up and spit back out through a punk filter. The message is consistent: distrust power, reject passivity, and call out the machinery. Sonically, it’s classic hardcore chassis, but not stuck in time. What makes Distorted Eyes stick is conviction. This is hardcore as a delivery system for change.

NEPTUNE (US, SGG records) + POLARIZED

NEPTUNE (US) + POLARIZED
NEPTUNE (US)
https://www.neptune-band.com/play-some-music
After twelve years of relative quiet, experimental rock band Neptune returns with Play Some Music, their ninth full length album and a return to form from a project spanning over three decades. Play Some Music reunites the band’s most recognizable and widest travelling line-up of Jason Sidney Sanford, Mark William Pearson, and Daniel Paul Boucher, whose 2008 LP Gong Lake (Table of the Elements) and 2006 LP Patterns (Les Potagers Natures) serve as defining releases among the band’s catalogue of over thirty recordings. Wielding their distinctive homemade instruments – a melding of hardware store and landfill – Play Some Music features microtonal and macrotonal wire-framed steel guitars as well as amplified drums, amplified circular saw blade percussion, electronics, and feedback organ to produce a suite of songs, improvised and composed, that explore classical mythology and the nebulous realm of memory. Always expanding their sound world, Neptune’s signature frenetic guitars and drums are joined by new gamelan-like amplified percussion and phantasmagoric electronic textures hovering over its ether.

Released by esteemed outré music label Sleeping Giant Glossolalia, home to artists such as Ramleh, Ava Mendoza, and Multicult, Play Some Music was recorded by Jason LaFarge at Seizure’s Palace Recording (Swans, Sightings, Akron/Family) and mastered by James Plotkin (Sunn O))), Tim Hecker, Pauline Oliveros). Its gatefold artwork features paintings by Sean Micka from his series Book Out Of Stock But Six Pictures, a meditation on the little-known Nazi resistance fighter Mildred Fish Harnack.
Though largely active in Boston since its founding in 1994, the band members currently reside in Boulder, CO; Tucson, AZ; and Durham, NC. The band will support with their lengthiest US tour since 2008 with European dates to follow.

POISON RUÏN (US) + ANGSTMÄLER
OCCII, Sunday, July 19 at 05:30 PM GMT+2
World’s Appreciated Kitsch proudly presents: POISON RUÏN (US) + ANGSTMÄLER – OCCII SUMMER CLOSING MATINEE –
Poison Ruïn (punk, USA, Relapse Records)
Last minute show at OCCII, at the tail end of their European summer tour!!!
Since their formation in 2020, the Philadelphia band Poison Ruïn have carved out a unique place for themselves on the modern punk and metal scene. And with their latest album, Hymns From The Hills, released this spring, they have truly brought their unique sound to fruition, where themes from the Dark Ages collide with gritty anarcho-punk.
In Poison Ruïn‘s hands, medieval atmospheres and themes are not an escape from reality – on the contrary, they serve as a grim mirror for modern day society, where ordinary people are crushed into the mire by powerful rulers. We find ourselves in the midst of the dark ages, and Poison Ruïn delivers a plague-ridden soundtrack where classic crust punk is mixed with elements of traditional heavy metal, post-punk, black metal and medieval dungeon synth passages.
The anarchic spirit of punk meets dark, gothic atmospheres, whilst the band’s cold and eerie lo-fi sound has led reviewers to draw comparisons with the aesthetic of Norwegian black metal bands such as Darkthrone and Immortal.
With Hymns From The Hills, the band have managed to add more nuance to their sound without compromising on their raw, gritty core. The album has garnered excellent reviews from outlets including Pitchfork, which aptly wrote: “The Philadelphia punks sound like they were swept off to the Middle Ages in a mosh pit and immediately started a revolution”.

Blasting out of the bad-to-the-bone backstreets of Haarlem, Angstmäler is brought to you by the same sick and twisted individuals who have unleashed Traumatizer, Robber and Asbest Boys onto this lifeless orb of a planet. Blown-out, feedback-drenched raw d-beat hardcore punk designed to punish a world that is undeserving of mercy and grace. Blow your damn earholes out with this pile of steaming hardcore noise.

Video by Vincent Moon:
Katokye – Obuhangwa bwa Banyankore na BahororoJohn Katokye has spent his life immersed in the traditional songs of the Banyankore people of Western Uganda. Growing up herding cattle to support himself, he honed his craft over decades and is now recognized as one of the region’s most talented traditional singers.
Specializing in ekyeshongoro (literally “song”), Katokye improvises short, poetic phrases reflecting on family, regional history, and the landscapes where iconic longhorn cattle graze. Backup singers often overlap his lines in a continuous vocal flow that can exceed 10 minutes, transforming each performance into a mesmerizing, meditative experience.
With the release of Obuhangwa bwa Banyankore na Bahororo (out on Nyege Nyege Tapes), Katokye brings the hypnotic vocal traditions of Western Uganda to a global audience, delivering an album that is both culturally vital and unlike anything most listeners have encountered.
Katokye‘s international premiere happened at Le Guess Who? in Utrecht on November 8th, 2025, and is available for European bookings in 2026. >> https://leguesswho.com/news/katokye-live-lgw25

CiNEMOCCii PRESENTS: Human at Play (Jan van Rijswijk & Chiel Pak, 2026, 33 minutes, NL //EN Subtitles)
OCCII, Wednesday, July 1 at 09:30 PM GMT+2
CiNEMOCCii presents Film: Human at Play
Human at Play (Jan van Rijswijk and Chiel Pak, 2026, 33 minutes, NL //EN Subtitles)
In the turbulent 1980s, a former public elementary school in Amsterdam’s Staatsliedenbuurt was squatted. This marked the birth of Zaal 100: a venue where culture could be experienced in an accessible way. Much has changed in the surrounding neighbourhood since then, but behind the doors on De Wittenstraat, music still resonates, poetry is recited, and there is room for solidarity.
Through archival footage and conversations with former squatters, volunteers, and other eyewitnesses, the film paints not only a picture of Zaal 100, but also of an Amsterdam neighbourhood with its own distinct history. At the same time, it raises questions that remain deeply relevant today: how do we deal with urban space, and how do we shape our life together?

Minorie presents: KATYA SHIRSHKOVA (RU/FR) + Tomáš Niesner (CZ) + KOUDE
OCCII, Thursday, September 17 at 08:30 PM GMT+2
Minorie presents: The fringes of folk and experimental music; Katya Shirshkova + Tomáš Niesner + Koude
Katya Shirshkova
Born in Siberia but based in France, Katya Shirshkova uses her own voice to create hypnotising polyphonic harmonies with layered compositions and dense performances. During this night she will perform her piece ‘Le Héron’, which was released on Stellage in 2025.
‘Le Héron’ is a vocal only piece consisting of four parts, each carrying its own symbol of a life period. These life periods refer to the images of different birds, a way of narrating that connects to old archetypes from legends and fairytales. In this sense ‘Le Héron’ creates a strong relation with folk traditions, which influence can be recognised throughout the piece. But above all, it is the intricately layered sound of her one-voice-one-looper choir that makes the experience so hauntingly beautiful.
Katya Shirskova has performed extensively throughout Europe but this is the first time she will perform in The Netherlands. A collaborative album with Roxane Métayer – who performed at Minorie in September 2025 – was released on Edições CN in June 2026.
https://shirshkova.com/
https://shirshkova.bandcamp.com/album/le-heron-a-reuni-oTomáš Niesner
From Central Europe comes Czech guitarist and sound artist Tomáš Niesner. On his latest album ‘adventous mmxxv’ he takes the calming, somewhat majestic atmospheres of Eastern European medieval hymns and turns them into minimalist guitar compositions with subtle layers of electronics.
Tomáš Niesner made a name for himself in folk and fingerpicking guitar circles as part of the duo Šimanský Niesner as well as a solo artist with several releases on Czech label Stoned To Death. On these albums influences from American Primitive and English and European folk music come together. With ‘adventous mmxxv’ he turns his gaze to Eastern Europe, taking songs from old hymn books and reimagining them for a completely different time and instrument, preserving only the core, the deepest meaning. What remains are timeless, soothing melodies that ground us in an unsteady world.

Koude
The subdued music of Koude draws from meandering folk, slowcore, ambient and drone, folding these elements together with a quiet patience that resists easy categorization. In this formation Michiel Klein, Keimpe Koldijk and Ester Venema are building on their previous collaborations in acts such as Blessum (Vrystaete), Eklin (Night People) and Mike Koldin (Samling). The trio works with electric guitars, bass guitar, synthesizers, sparse percussion and occasional voice.

George Crotty Trio (Canada)
Teatro Munganga, Thursday, October 15 at 08:00 PM GMT+2
Nederlands onderaan
George Crotty has forged his own exciting vocabulary pushing the boundaries of the cello. Versed in many styles, his inquisitive eclecticism draws on diverse influences within jazz and global music including modal jazz, Indian Raga, and Arabic Maqam. Crotty’s modernist genre-bending is heavily influenced by his hometown of Toronto’s vibrant pluralism, and further illuminated by John Murchison (bass) and Jeremy Smith (percussion). Their cross-cultural interplay deviates from a trio's typical hierarchy in an exploration of groove and colour, lending Crotty's tunes an exciting three- dimensional quality. To quote Whole Note Magazine, “...the music certainly plays like a showcase of the cello’s capabilities...Crotty’s virtuosity and melodicism undeniably take center stage...” About their 2022 release, “Chronotope”, All About Jazz wrote: “Cellist George Crotty excels at blending various elements into a unique musical brew. On Chronotope, a cross-cultural mix of South American, Arabic, Indian, and contemporary jazz idioms amount to a stream of genre- blurring invention.”

Press Quotes From the first note to the last, and even in the design of the album’s cover, everything feels meticulously considered. There is no flamboyance here, no attempt to dazzle through excess. And perhaps that is precisely why this album is so affecting: because it radiates sincerity. Because it reflects the kind of artistic honesty that refuses to shout, choosing instead to speak clearly, beautifully, and with purpose. Thierry de Clemensat – Paris MoveHere’s a trio producing artistry that registers as experimental at first, but upon repeated exposure, finds new angles in familiar spaces. Jamie Lee Rake – Shepherd Express
Music like no other, whether in jazz, classical, or world folk. Recommended. Frédéric Cardin – Pan M 360 This is a curiously-compelling album that doesn’t sound like anything else, which makes it special. David Reed – Belleville IntelligencerThis is a new type of contemporary jazz... you will enjoy this creative wedding of new music, a merger of contemporary jazz experimentation, world music, and creative compositions. Dee Dee McNeil – Making a Scene
Elements of European jazz, Hindustani raga, and contemporary chamber music combine in this extraordinary fusion of rhythm, improvisation, and creative passion. Midwest Book Review
Crotty’s broody bowing teamed with Smith take you to India on the raga of “Bandish” while his pizzicato’d pickings dance over to West Africa on the celebrative “Heart Music”. Smith leads into the graceful Israeli pulse of “Niggun” with Crotty sounding

almost cantorial in his playing, while Mediterranean and Byzantine worlds are explored on the Aegean “The Taske At Hand”. Even America’s Midwest is on the map, with some lyrical Coplandesque ideas on “Cigarettes at Sunrise”. A map of music. George W. Harris – Jazz Weekly
“George Crotty fearlessly takes the cello into uncharted waters. The Berklee trained, Toronto-based cellist, composer and bandleader has forged his own style, one that incorporates jazz, rock, classical and particularly world fusion.” - Something Else!https://somethingelsereviews.com/2022/07/13/george-crotty-trio-chronotope-2022/ “Although not as radical as some string sessions, both discs [Erik Friendlander’s ‘A Queens' Firefly’ and George Crotty’s ‘Chrontope’] are part of the contemporary Jazz locus... Crotty sounds as if he’s channeling violinist Jean-Luc Ponty,”
Jazz Word http://www.jazzword.com/one-review/?id=131092 “Cellist George Crotty excels at blending various elements into a unique musical brew. On ‘Chronotope’, a cross-cultural mix of South American, Arabic, Indian, and contemporary jazz idioms amount to a stream of genre-blurring invention.”

George Crotty - Cello
John Murchison - Bas
Jeremy Smith - Percussion NED
Goblin Band are a four-piece English traditional folk band based in London. The band formed in the wake of the pandemic from small sessions organised by young, queer, folk obsessive friends looking to forge their own way into traditional music. This gave rise to a band of multi-instrumentalists firmly rooted in the music of England, concerned with representing a perspective that confronts the nation’s social and political history of class struggle, industrialisation and colonialism. Through a fusion of harmony singing, fiddle, squeezeboxes, hurdy gurdy and more, Goblin Band deliver a charismatic and unruly alternative expression of English traditional music both riotously joyful and deeply sincere.

Bernardino Femminielli + Helen Island | album release i.s.m. void & knekelhuis
Cinetol, Thursday, July 9 at 08:00 PM GMT+2

CiNEMOCCii PRESENTS: DRIJFLAND (Nico Boink, 2026, 64 Min, NL //EN subtitled)+ Q/A

CiNEMOCCii present: Film Screening DRIJFLAND
D r i j f l a n d (Nico Boink, 2026, 64 Min, NL //EN subtitled)
Drijfand tells the story of the foating gardens created by the renowned artist Robert Jasper Grootveld in Amsterdam’s Entrepot harbor, Zeeburg district.
Beginning in late 1999, I started to film the construction of these unique garden islands in Grootveld’s workshop, a visionary project he had nurtured since the 1960s. Within a few months two floating garden were completed. Through intimate footage, we witness the creative process unfold, as well as the sudden collapse of the project. Amid escalating tensions between Grootveld and local authorities.
Until his passing in 2009, I filmed regularly. Among the moments captured were times when he was recognized for his role in bringing global attention to Amsterdam, as well as his involvement as one of the founders of the Provo movement in the 1960s.
In 2024, drawn by the gardens’ abundant nature and the dedication of the Raft Builders of Amsterdam, who maintain the islands in Grootveld’s pioneering spirit, I returned to document this living legacy.
The islands’ buoyancy relies on styrofoam, a material Grootveld championed for its “power of softness” . Yet, 25 years later, styrofoam’s environmental impact has sparked urgent questions. The film delves into this dilemma, tracing the search for sustainable, bio-based alternatives that honour Grootveld’s ethos while protecting nature.
Drijfand offers a candid, tender, and often hilarious glimpse into Amsterdam’s underground creative forces, a story of resilience, innovation, and the evolving relationship between art, nature, and community.
