  1. Opening exhibition: NEW ENERGY

Tolhuistuin, Thursday, November 5 at 12:00 PM GMT+1

    Expositie klimaat Warming Up Festival

Kadir van Lohuizen is an internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker known for his keen eye and ability to capture major social issues in a compelling way. His work focuses, among other things, on the consequences of rising sea levels, the global food industry, and, this time, the global energy transition. Is this truly a transition, and how does it work in practice? Who benefits from it, and who suffers?

Of course, resources and profits are once again distributed unevenly, especially when it comes to extracting the raw materials needed to build wind turbines and other forms of green energy. Kadir investigated this as a filmmaker and photographer, gaining access to places where no one else is allowed to go. Through the combination of the large artwork on the exterior wall and the video inside, you can see what he has been through, what his perspective on the energy transition is, and whether he has hope for the future of Amsterdam Noord.

    Warming Up Festival

This year, Warming Up Festival is not asking how you can live more sustainably. It is asking why so many people, especially young people, have tuned out of a conversation that may affect them more than anyone.

Not out of indifference, but because of mental exhaustion. Because of climate anxiety and guilt. Because of a system that places the emphasis on individual responsibility, while the biggest polluters and fossil fuel subsidies largely remain out of the spotlight. And sometimes also because a climate movement that seems to demand perfection rather than participation.

You can’t save the world alone. Fortunately, you don’t have to. Warming Up Festival therefore takes a different approach: solidarity instead of penance.

For three days, the festival brings together art, journalism, music and conversation around the question of how individual choices relate to systems that are largely beyond our control, and where we can actually make a difference as a collective. It is a festival that makes room for imperfection, for doubt and for new forms of engagement.

More information and the complete program can be found here.

NEW ENERGY Consists of a 30-meter-long artwork on the exterior wall of the Tolhuistuin garden and a video on display on the ground floor of Tolhuistuin, next to the stairs leading to the restaurant.

The wall is always accessible, and this artwork will be on view from November 5, 2026, through February 2027.
The video can be viewed during Tolhuistuin’s opening hours (daily from 11:00 a.m. to midnight) starting November 19, 2026; the end date is unknown.

The design for this work was created by LMNOP, a multidisciplinary visual communication design studio.
The video was produced by Jesper Bauer (camera, lighting, sound, editing), and the content editing was done by LMNOP and Eva Verboon.

Together, these two components form the artwork NEW ENERGY, commissioned by Tolhuistuin for the Warming Up Festival.

  2. KURASHI WINTERFEST

Skatecafe Karin & Yvonne, Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 PM GMT+1

Kurashi returns to Skatecafe, where it all began, taking over the full venue once again. Rooted in Amsterdam and Curaçao, Kurashi brings together sounds and influences from the Caribbean and Latin America.

Each stage will have its own direction and curation. We can already share that this edition introduces a new hybrid live and DJ concept, plus a vinyl-focused stage built around a different way of playing and listening to music, with a DJ drawing on another time and generation. 1900 stays a surprise. More details to come.

  3. PARTY DOZEN & IONA IORGU - THE WORMHOLE CULT

Oedipus Craft Space, Wednesday, December 2 at 08:30 PM GMT+1

    Party Dozen
Sydney's sax-and-drums duo Party Dozen take their fifth album, 21 Bum Salute (out 6 November on City Slang), on the road. Recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by Kirsty Tickle and Jonathan Boulet, it boils years of jams and loops down to little more than half an hour of their loosest, most fun music yet, including the single "Euro Stomper". Live, it only gets louder.Kirsty screams her saxophone through a wall of effects, Jono hits the drums like a full band, and no two shows are the same. After a year that took them from the Sydney Opera House to Red Rocks with Amyl & The Sniffers, they close out 2026 with a BANG!

    Iona Iorgu
Ioana Iorgu crafts a hypnotic, shadow-lit soundscape. An immersive wall of sound, drawing from the weight of doom, the haze of shoegaze, and the edge of post-punk fused into one, cohesive force. As distorted guitars, layered in thick reverbs, swell and splinter over thunderous drums, her vocals move like a double-edged sword: soft and intimate, then suddenly breaking open, cutting through with a crushing intensity.

  4. ADE: Breakfast Club /w Kiosk Radio (SOLD OUT)

Pllek, Friday, October 23 at 06:00 PM GMT+2

Lowlands unite! From highway club palazzos to a humble kiosk in Brussels’ Warandepark: our southern neighbours have always inspired us. During the nineties, our downstairs friends created a home away from home for underground house music. The sound that decade gave birth to still strongly reverberates across our borders, so we thought it only right to team up with the people behind one of the southern scene’s most venerated stomping grounds: Kiosk Radio.

The second stop to our ADE marathon provides a stretch of tête-a-têtes between kindred spirits. Some cross borders; others are strictly BE.

Doors open early and close right on time to catch your breath for the next leg: RADION, part I.

  5. The Dance Club

Tolhuistuin, Friday, November 6 at 08:00 PM GMT+1

The Dance Club is a monthly dance night for all ages. No club, no scene, just an open dance floor where you can lose yourself in the music and simply move. With carefully curated music, we create space to let go, recharge, and just dance.
