One week after #AMS2023, and haven't heard much about the traditional AMS sniffles. Is my feed just off, or is it because masks were actually working?

The topic of #AMS2023 in Denver (and in Baltimore next year) and how conference attendees see, perceive, experience, and interact with the existing homeless population of a city we are visiting is a far more nuanced conversation than can be had with a character limit. I think every post so far, if that thought was indeed supposed to be the start and end of the matter, has lacked real consideration of the topic. There needs to be a lot of thoughts held simultaneously to do this one justice.

Meanwhile, back on the birdsite, there are that many tweets with #AMS2023 every couple of hours and, much as I hate to say it, it looks like a much better place to stay in touch with what is happening.

I’m reluctant to support the new birdsite owner, but staying away may be hurting me more than him ….

#AMS2023 Mark DeMaria presented research using a ML model (TCANE) to predict TC track and intensity forecast uncertainty. While not its intended use, TACNE also provides a probability of RI and performs better than some current operational products!
