If you don't mind proprietary cloud-hosted, #Amplenote is a pretty darn good note taking and task management app. Almost as good as Taskwarrior for the tasks.
And now there's a native app for Windows, Linux, and macOS, with plans for local note storage in 2024. And table formulas, too! This pleases me.
oh and a graph view

I'm currently trying #Amplenote as a note+task manager, i think it walks the fine line between too many and too few features, if you know what I mean. You can backlink notes with each other but it has less "control" than other #PKM tools. But there's also quite good task management, just not as much as other's that focus on tasks only (however, it's better than Todoist and TickTick I think). Give it a try! https://www.amplenote.com/signup?ref=SCUN50LQK

Any #Amplenote users out there? Looking for interesting note taking tips.

@redcrew I'm using #Amplenote and I love it so far. The calendar view is amazing, and the task management is more than enough for me.

-
I was trying a number of #Evernote alternatives and keep coming back to #Evernote. I like #Amplenote, but it is not mature enough and handles poorly attachments, pdfs etc.

So, I have to correct myself here - #Amplenote does have a vault solution, it's just on the paid plan. You can even work on the PWA in offline mode, if you wanted. And I think I've been harsh about access to content as you can export & import in markdown.
I'm actually reconsidering it as the workflow is so slick & the mobile app is great. #Obsidian 's mobile app is almost unusable to me, especially for task management 😔 -

@ellane @ia I’d probably go back to Joplin, which is what I was using first before I discovered Obsidian. #Amplenote looks pretty good though.

Hi! Sorry for the delay in replying!
I actually really love(d) #Amplenote particularly for the daily jots all in one note, the ability to add tasks directly in any note then view them all together & it's great UI. But I couldn't use it for work due to security policies as it stored all my notes on its servers.
I moved to #Obsidian & have really tried to replicate Amplenote's abilities there, with some success, but it's not yet perfect.
I think if Amplenote were to provide a means of storing locally I might reconsider (but the again, Obsidian is SO flexible...!) -

Hey! Wow, you too! I've just replied to @jjude who does the same - it reminds me of #Amplenote & their awesome Daily Jots feature. My daily notes folder is definitely getting unmanageable 😬😂 -

Hey, funny you should say that - I had started to toy with the idea of putting everything in one note, but had pretty much dismissed it - thank you!
It reminds me of what I loved about #Amplenote which was the Daily Jot which was like one big note. You could add tasks anywhere in that note & then view them on a separate tasks page, similar to what you are doing. The other thing I'm working on is getting my handwritten notes into my daily notes, & using the Publish feature of Nebo, I can put a link to my handwritten notes for each day into that one daily note... Food for thought this morning! 😀

@markmcelroy @msauter I left #RoamReseach nearly 2 years ago for #ObsidianMD (with a short pit stop at #Amplenote in between) because I was horrified by the company’s approach to trust and privacy.

Been using #Amplenote for a few days now and I'm already pretty happy with it so far. Despite being new to #pkm and being extremely scatterbrained, I actually feel like my thoughts are starting to come into focus now. It's definitely earned a spot on my #Chromebook shelf!
I like that it's a #pwa and loads up my notes and tasks very quickly. I also dig the ability to drag task to your calendar. I recently discovered that you can create a new note from a calendar event too. That's pretty handy!

@markmcelroy @gudrun_g yeah after moving from #RoamReseach to #AmpleNote and then #Obsidian 1.5 years ago I’ll likely stay with local first. It’s so liberating to be able to decide for myself what’s on a server somewhere rather than decide what I save locally.

@vladcampos Have considered. But a key use-case for me is document storage: attachments, search, OCR, etc. Currently whittled down to #Amplenote #Nimbus or #Notejoy...
-
@semperos I had not heard about #amplenote before. Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
-
@credmp Been using Amplenote for some time. Web and mobile clients, rich task-oriented features in addition to notes, easy export of all note content, and a lot more.

Somebody in Discord made the mistake of asking about task management. Gave them three names —#Taskwarrior, #OrgMode, #Amplenote — and a reading list.
BTW task apps: if you say you can schedule recurrence, I'm gonna be comparing it to this:
-
Almost as niche of a workflow as one can get, but *if* one enjoyed task funnel w/ #AmpleNote and the nerdy extensibility of #TriliumNotes and rich text entry from both *but* hadn't memorized any APIs yet:
Copy and paste works (if you avoid / fix nested lists)
-
Side note — hah! no? ok sorry — the Vivaldi browser sidebar makes a great spot for Amplenote jots.
