A bit of a rush job, this one, as the tide came in quicker than I'd expected! It probably lasted less than fifteen minutes, once I'd completed it. I rather like seeing them fade away, like this.

Some of you may know that when exploring beaches I like to gather things I find and arrange an #AmperSand. Here are some examples.

But you may not be aware that I also worry about it - a little bit - every time. Why do I worry? Here's a good summary, from BoingBoing:

Basically, rocks / shells / sand / etc are possibly archaeology or possibly habitats, and anything you leave visible is a mark on a (presumably natural) environment which others might not appreciate.

Some weather out there today, so some alternative #ampersand materials were necessary.

Happily working away at an #AmperSand on a sunny beach today, and somebody stopped me to say hello. They already knew my name and they already liked my work!

…Now I know how Taylor Swift must feel.

I was suspicious of the story in the video about "ampersand" coming from the phrase "and, per se, and" -- it sounds like folk etymology -- but Wikipedia also cites it as the word's origin.

Which of course makes me think of the rather sweet TMBG song "Ampersand":
