Das Halle Large Ensemble setzt sich aus verschiedenen herausragenden Musiker:innen der halleschen Jazz-Szene zusammen, von denen viele mittlerweile im Exil leben. In unregelmäßigen Abständen kommen sie in Halle zusammen, um sich Themen der älteren und jüngeren Jazzgeschichte zu widmen. Zum zweiten A-Minor-Festival ist es das Sun Ra Arkestra! Diverse Kompositionen des innovativen und exzentrischen Jazzmusikers werden unter der Leitung von Bastian Duncker zum Eröffnungskonzert aufgeführt.
Allen, die von dieser besonderen Größe und seiner Weltall-Religion noch nichts gehört haben, empfehlen wir einen Besuch im Puschkino am Dienstagabend (08. September), wo der passende Film Sun Ra: Do the Impossible gezeigt wird.

Musikalisch changiert TAU zwischen Free-Jazz und Fusion mit Beat-lastigen Hip-Hop-Elementen – einzelne Parts erinnern an aufwändig produzierte Soundtracks. In einem kollektiven Prozess aus Komposition, Improvisation und Arrangement finden die fünf Musiker aus Berlin und Köln das Vokabular für ihre eigene Klangsprache. Es entsteht ein Sound, der an Dichte schwer zu überbieten ist: Futuristisch, virtuos und mutig!
