#AminaClaudineMyers' 1st 2 albums, Poems for the Piano: The Piano Music of Marion Brown ('79) and Songs for Mother E ('80) both got a lot of my attention this year. "Poems" gives a new sense of time and fragility to some of Marion Brown's signature tunes, where there was already fragility aplenty. "Songs" is its own work of genius, a New Age prayer of the doomed to grok with the lights on, but "Poems" is still in that scintillating peace on the knife's edge. https://youtu.be/3c2kIJHIbHM #jazz #piano
